News about GH2 firmware

The most fps the GH2 can do in good quality Full HD is 24 fps.

Here's hoping I will still be able to get a decent amount for my GH2 once the NEX-7 comes out ;-)

1080P50/60 should not be too hard to achieve hardware wise. Panasonic consumer camcorders have it. The cheapest model (Panasonic HDC-SD600) shooting (1920x1080@50p, 28Mb/s (.h264)) sells 599 EUR in Finland. Thats half of the price for gh2 body.

I wouldn't bet on NEX-7. Unlike Panasonic's niche market strategy for GH series, NEX series is all about average consumers who wouldn't discuss passionately about 24p.
 
By the way I emailed Wayne from Shoot35 company which is my favorite company to see whether they'd be interested in sponsoring the GH2 hack and I got a fair reply: "....we don't really get too involved in the electronic side of accessories , we are mechanically minded and concentrate our efforts on machined stuff and aluminum accessories.Unfortunately we cannot provide any help at this stage , all of our funds have been invested into our own R&D for upcoming products. I am sure you will find interest however." Should I start contacting other companies? like jag35 .. all the ..35 companies etc?
 
No profit seeking company will "sponsor" such an endeavor. Any problems that might arise from this could realistically bring action against any company who "sponsors" it. If we keep it open and "free", then nobody can be blamed as it's just "research" and not infringement on intellectual property.
 
well then I find it impossible to believe a company would sponsor this "under the table". If we were ever lucky enough to find a sponsor, they would only do it for the advertisement. So if indeed companies legally can't sponsor "over" the table, then that just leaves us doesn't it, and maybe a few D7000 users. I wonder what Vitaliy had in mind when he mentioned finding some kind of a sponsor as a potentially viable solution. Anyways, let's wait for more details on pricing..
 
He may have meant someone willing to purchase a reader for the hack.

If this reader is available for hire that would be the cheapest option, plus the hiring company wouldn't get in trouble as they're not directly involved.
 
I don't know why any company will be legally responsible for anything.
Generally we'll just sell advertisement place in our site. They can't control and can't be made responsible for our money spending :-)
Some guys sponsored ML, and legally speaking it is much more risky project (starting from extremely strange T2i firmware and keys leaking story to counterfeit software used by many developers).

As for programmer. I am working on this.
It looks like we'll be able to get it much cheaper then I thought.
 
Sounds like things are getting a little quiet here...
Hopefully it means everybody are busy shooting and/or hacking instead of yapping in here...

Right now I am working on dedicated site and infrastructure.

As for all other things, they'll be hidden to prevent Panasonic interfering as they already did few times.
 
If you don't mind my saying, if you don't want Pan a sonic to not find these threads, you should not make it viewable to non members and only those you trust.

Ha...wouldn't it be funny if you were the sole reason why people can't find a GH-2 anywhere in stock. Makes for a great conspiracy theory.

"Panasonic" IS already member in this forum for years... and helping and reading etc.
 
I think that's a good approach V. It sounds like you have all the important people you need, so no point announcing anything unless it's ready to go. Very similar to the current iOS jailbreaking scene. Can't wait.

As for interfering, with moving to new location we'll have special area :-)

But right now we are slightly stuck.
I am kind of perfectionist (this is really bad sometimes :-) ), so I want to use best tools and approaches possible.
And since all offered help resulted only in emails, I am spending time learning many things and this is amazing amount of time.
