Here is some promised news about GH2 firmware.

First. I have GH2 firmware (obtainded from undisclosed source).

Second. It uses encrypted UPD format. Same as latest Panasonic compacts.

Third. So, we'll have to use approach with compacts firmware dumping that will (with very high probability) result in GH2 firmware decryption.

Great stuff. No pressure though, don't let the inevitable waves of blog posts promising the second coming bother you. Sounds like you and anyone helping have a long road ahead, best of luck, we've got your back if you need us.

Wow. That's great news to hear to warm me up cuz my city has been under sub freezing degrees for 3 days and nights.

I really don't think GH hacks would hurt Panasonic. In fact it would invite more newcomers, and some of them would buy AF, too. Apple didn't kill iphone jailbreak. Canon didn't kill magic lantern. Learn from them, Panasonic!!!

This is great news The lack of 25p pushed me away of the gh2 but I think it´s time to start hunting for a camera.
:)

Very promising news! I realize that it is still a long road ahead. Thank you for your all your efforts regardless of the outcome. Please let us know what, if anything, can be done to assist you.

Fortunately we have a road. Think about all the poor folks who buy a camera, find out its limitations, and then having only two options - send it back or live with its limitations! A long, rocky road is MUCH better than no road!

Dan.

p.s. If Panasonic was smart, they'd create a formal API for folks like Vitaliy. That would revolutionize the industry and the positive press would be incredible. OTOH, given Panasonic's abysmal record at meeting customer demand, it would be even more difficult to get the cameras!

encouraging news! anything we can do to help? also,
does anyone have a clue when we might be seeing a GH2 firmware update?
