Hey everyone, just curios if the company newegg.com is a reputable seller of DVX's? We're about to buy 3 of them, and I want to make sure we don't get burned. Thanks in advance for all replies!

They are a reputable company.

They are NOT an authorized dealer, so the risk that you may receive an unauthorized product is there. This means that if you receive a non-authorized product that you will not be eligible for rebates, warranty coverage, etc.

It seems that most people who have bought from newegg and have reported their experiences here on DVXuser have received an authorized product. However, since they are not an authorized dealer, there is no guarantee of this and that risk is inherent in your purchase. You can be comfortable in the fact that newegg is a reputable company though. Just know that there is a risk that you may not receive cameras that are eligible for rebates and warranty coverage.

If you search for Newegg, you will find plenty of first hand accounts on this site from folks who have bought dvx's from them. Search around.

Jason

Go with newegg. I got my DVX from them 5 months ago and it was totally brand new and legit. I even got my DVX book and DVD. I just mailed them the rebate form. Just Curious though, why is that I was able to get the dvx book by rebate if they're not an authorized dealer? Why did panasonic honored my rebate anyway?

b/c (for right now) newegg is buying their stock from an authorized dealer. But, if that ever falls through with them, then they will have to get their stock from somewhere else which may or may not be authorized. It all depends on where newegg gets their stock from whether or not your product will be an authorized product or not.

I would go with B&H as they are an authorized dealer. What is the price difference between Newegg & B&H and is peace of mind worth the difference (x3)?

Thanks guys for all the responses! Much appreciated. At this point I'm not too worried about the warranty or rebates because we will only be buying the cameras for one project and then will probably sell them off.

I was recently in the market to buy DVX100b and did extensive research on where to purchase, particularly on this site. I too found that for the price/reliablitiy NewEgg.com was the way to go-HOWEVER,

I tried getting the 12mo. no int. payment option, in which I was denied, (stellar credit mind you). So I spoke to a representative, who was very nice and told me that they can not conduct any sales over the phone ,(which is plainly stated on website) and simply told me to go back to website and try again, due to possibilty of their server being down. I thought, o.k. I'll go ahead and do that. I did, and once again, was denied the ability to go forward with that transaction.
I decided o.k, let me try the 3 mo. no interest option and just get this thing going...no deal! Now I'm puzzled, and becoming restless--

Meanwhile, I'm praying that it is a server problem, and that my credit is not taking a hit with all of these inquiries.

I finally decided, I don't have time for this, I'm just going to pay it out right with my Debit Card----once again no deal!!!!

Synopsis--I have heard nothing but good things about NewEgg, and there was probably a server issue-- but I ended up going elsewhere, (Buydig.com) out of Jersey, which also rated pretty high on resellerratings.com. They were awesome, I was able to order the DVX plus some accesories online. I confirmed, from extremely helpful phone support staff, that the DVX was U.S. version/NTSC and had a US warranty. I'm in CT, a couple states away, and received everything the next day!! I was pumped.

I realized that the wide angle lense I got was a .45, when it was advertised as a .5, I immediately called and spoke with someone different, but just as friendly and helpful, and he apologized and said that it was a clerical error, and that if I tried it out and didn't like, that they would take it back, no worries! Now that's customer service!

As much as I immerse myself, make my livilyhood, and advocate computers and technology--there is nothing like speaking to a human being on the other end of a transaction, at least in my book.

It's unfortunate and bewildering that Newegg, which seems like they've been around for a long time, and are highly-rated, doesn't have a sales staff via the good ol' telephone, furthermore when calling any kind of tech support, they redirect you to their website, that wasn't working properly.

Not trying to beat them up, but they missed out on a 4K sale.

Good luck
