newbie needs 2 know: how to shoot time lapse w/dvx100b?

i'm new to the dvx100b. i know that the dvx100a was able to shoot time lapse and that feature was left off the dvx100b.

is there a workaround that allows dvx100b users to shoot time lapse?

i edit in fcp.

thanks in advance

be well

Your best bet it to let the tape roll all the way through, then use some severe time compression in post.

You could also record directly to a computer and save the hours of capture, since the DVX has live firewire output. There may even be a program that can time lapse off of that.

I've heard about something you can do with Adobe Onlocation and hooking your dvx up to the computer. i'm actually trying to figure this out myself. If I come up with something I'll let you know.

What's to figure out. onLocation is just dvRack renamed. Has all of the time lapse/stop motion and other goodies built right in. Get yourself a couple of long firewire cables. Laird supplies 30 and 70 ft lengths and they work great.

iStop Motion is very good for making stop motion stuff, and you can use it for time lapse too. It's made by Boinx software. Not sure if there is a free version or not, but I know there is a free demo.

I just got Onlocation..so i haven't looked at it yet. But if it's that simple than yay!

Well... I use my firestore for timelapses (well my 7D rather) but in the past I have hooked it up to FCP and let it roll and just speed it WAYY up! Just make sure to have FCP not abort capture on a dropped frame!
