Newb framerate help

I'm heading out for some winter still photography soon and will be taking my new XHA1 along to capture some winter wonderland footage. I see myself shooting very slow pans and lock-offs, doubtful there will be anything moving fast, although it may snow on us and capturing the falling snow would be fun. Would you shoot at 1080/60i for that? I've read quite a few statements by people who swear by 30fps, and I've not yet experimented with 30 or 24f but I'm editing with FCP [5.1.2] so it's feasible. Would appreciate your advise.

I know it's hard to use words to describe the difference but could you try to describe how 1080/30f would differ from 1080/60i? I really appreciate the help- I have a lot to learn...

I found some other articles that helped me wrap my mind around this stuff. Think I'll go with 30f on this trip. Thanks again.

30F with a fast shutter (1/100 and up) will give you very crisp footage, and nice stills of fast motion too. If you want more natural motion blur, shoot 30F with 1/60 shutter. 60i will give you a "this could be live" kind of looking out a window feel.
