Just noticed another NewMRW-G1 XQD Card Reader... This one a CFexpress-B Card & XQD Card Combo Unit.
After reading reviews of the previous New SD Card & XQD Card reader many people mentioned that they were over heating,
so it's good to see the new new reader has a field of holes on top for better ventilation.

Also see that

Great thanks for posting.. of course I literally bought the over heating one 2 days ago.. that will become the spare .. this is exactly what Sony needed to release .. .. this looks more a real video one with ventilation .. nice !

After reading the reviews about the SD/XQD Readers overheating, I bought two of them just in case.
I still have one of the original readers that came with the G cards, do those work with the newer 120 GB cards?
(haven't tried it)

Sorry dont know .. I just bought 4 x 240GB G series cards and one of the over heating readers .. they all work together .. but I'll be putting in an order for the new one for sure .. all the bad reviews of the Sony reader was more than a bit worrying .. I presume it was basically a stills reader and clearly not designed for lengthy down loads .. but at least Sony have responded ..I guess it takes a while to get the actual product to market from someone at Sony saying .. hell these readers are rubbish better get it sorted out..

Really? Haven't heard of the overheating issue. Have downloaded countless hours here and overseas using the original XQD card readers and never had an issue with those units, heat or reliability wise.

What I'm doing is to disconnect the readers from the host computer between downloads when possible to let the reader cool.

I shot a theatrical performance with four FS7 cameras and 8 cards
for both a Friday night performance, and repeated the procedure for a Saturday night performance
and both times the downloads were all done in one session, on one reader without issue...
The worrisome reviews are on the B&H website, however as they say, "your mileage may vary!"

Yeah there are alot of people saying these units get really hot.. I guess why there new one has ventilation holes like the SxS reader ..

Still rocking my original XQD readers that they used to include free with the cards in 2015.

On a side note, man, the SxS adapter shells have really jumped up. $50 each, now.

I have model the Sony E80 reader for XQD cards that I got when I first got my FS7 years ago. It downloads card files from the G series XQD cards much faster than the USB adapter Model QDA-SB1A that was included free with the newer G series cards that I got more recently. I am confused as to why the new adapters would be slower than the old one? And is there a problem with using the old adapter with the G series cards? I download using a MacBook Pro with a USB3 bus.

Yeah I'm still rocking those as well. I just picked up the new CF Express/XQD reader for 99 USD. I like it becausetle it's USB-C, I will run a download speed test to see if its any better, but I'm hoping it's a little more efficient on set at least. Plus I now have a CF Express reader if that situation randomly arises...

edit: I'm on a newer MacBook Pro with USB-C style ports only - biased.
