Just finished this comedy sketch/motion graphics piece for our client, H&R Block.
These are short videos for High School kids to teach them about financial literacy.

Feel free to share comments—curious what people think.

I was involved in everything from writing to casting to shooting and editing.
Believe it or not, it was a LOT of work (for such a short piece).
Those motion graphics take forever.

When color correcting, I ended up matching the c100 to the MKiii, just because the 5d looked great from the start.

Listen, I own a c100 and not a MKiii. And I totally get what's better about the c100, image quality-wise.
But I still think the 5d has beautiful color that's a challenge for me to get with the c100.

Anyway, let me know your thoughts.

Thanks,
Dan

Dan Great job on matching the two cameras....I actually forgot about it when I started watching...it was that good. I have both but have never got around to using them together yet. Pace, Humour and length of the piece is just right. The only thing I would have changed is when they are talking to each other....I would have moved around to give an over the shoulder angle of the speaker.....the closeup of each actor a few times is ok but you never really get to see their whole face. I know stuff like this takes time....motion graphics can slow you down. I used my C100 for just the second time doing an Advert of just over a minute and it took a day to edit. Nice job.

Eire...thanks for your comments!
Would also have loved the OTS shots, but we were limited with the background field of view available to us. We shot at daytime, so we had all the windows blacked out with garbage bags for that sketch. So we would have ended up shooting into the blacked out windows to get those shots. So we kept our angles for the two cams at smaller angles for that reason.

I am doing a shoot next week with the C100 and the 5DMKII and there will not be a lot of time to do tests to match color. Can you tell us which CPs you used on each camera? Great job, they look pretty seamless.

Hey Pure,

Not sure what the setting was for the 5d. My c100 is set to WDR. But the two cams looked very different on the timeline. I had to add quite a bit of contrast and color to the c100 footage to match the rich look of the 5d.

Hope that helps.

I've matched my MK III to a C300 by using WIDE DR on the 300 and the Technicolor CineStyle (with 1 extra notch of saturation) on the 5D.

Then you can apply the same grade to both in post.
