New Video: Toy Gun Fun

I shot this as a quick gag a few months ago, and for various reasons only recently got around to editing it together. Nothing fancy, but I thought I'd share. Link: Toy Gun Fun, or How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Second Amendment.

Be sure to watch at 1080p, if only for the one shot in there that I'm proud of. It's a little rough around the edges in spots. Constructive criticism is welcome.

Hi, Wesley-

Your stuff really cracks me up! Nice touch when he comes back for the bag.

HMC40 comments: it looks like around :38 - :41 there is some purple lens flare artifacts. Was that intentional or a white balance thing or something? Also, in the moon sky scenes the lower corners are kind of greenish. I had that problem shooting aviation clips. I removed my polarizer filter and now it’s fine. I don’t know why that happens (still did it even if I rotated the polarizer angle). Did you have a polarizer on?

Keep making these is my request!

Steve

Thanks for the feedback Steve. The bag was Paul's idea, so I'll pass your compliment on to him.

The lens flare is actually a digital goof. I added it to spice up the laser blast but left it over the whole clip by mistake. I intended to tone it down a bit before uploading, but Paul said "No, I love every flare. Leave it." He's apparently a big J.J. Abrams fan ;-)

I'll have to look again at the green corners on the sky scene. That must be a Youtube compression artifact of some kind. I didn't notice it in the original file. No polarizer was used for that particular shot, nor indeed any camera at all. It's 100% CG. I'll take it as a positive that it looked like it could pass for a live-action shot.

Glad you liked it. More stuff is coming eventually. This is just a hobby for me, so output is admittedly infrequent.

Hi

Nicely done. I hope that's not your tripod in the scene at :35... Just pixel peeping! I like the video a lot and it is well done.

Yeah, it's my tripod. We noticed it right after shooting, but it was getting dark and a major thunderstorm was rolling in, so we didn't re-shoot. I decided to just leave it in as an easter egg for the observant. Besides, in this video, whoever lives at that house obviously has bizarre, powerful, but innocuous-looking artifacts just sitting around in the front yard. The audience is free to guess at what that "tripod" is actually there for. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.
