New Video-La Quinceañera-t3i

nice, but to much re-focusing.. I used to do the same, getting a loupe helped me with controlling it and making sure what I want is in focus the "first" time.

^ Understood, but realistically you dont want it that much. Initially I thought 'this is cool', but to see every scene have the refocussing applied tends to draw away from the video. I can totally understand refocussing for an effect in parts, but it looks like most of your shots had some refocussing.

This is your video however and not everyone will like or dislike it, but i'm offering my opinion based on what I've experienced and learned from. It was a nice music track chosen, nice angles too. OH and you may want to get an ND filter for the daylight shooting to keep from blowing out your whites and/or having to compensate via upping shutter/upping fstop. As well ND filters add more contrast to your imagery.

I'm fairly 'new' as well, so someone correct me if I'm leading in the wrong direction or wrote incorrectly. These are things that I've learned over time. hope that helps you man.. nice job.. :)

Nice Art, bad technique

First and foremost you need to stabilize your shots, the micro jitters are very very disturbing. Placing it on a Tripod, Monopod or even a steadicam will allow you to use movement within your shots but have them controlled.

Also the editing seemed to slow, to many shots of the same thing and what seemed like the first minute you were recording the back of her head. Since I am spanish I know what quinceanera means, but to the public yo could have given a brief 15 second introduction showing the in latin countries we celebrate a girls 15's not the 16's like Americans.

Honestly it all boils down to technique , these cameras shoot a lovely image BUt how you present that material now is what's going to separate yourself from everyone else

Do you have any links to video's that you have done? I'd like to check out some of your work.

You need work to post your opinion? I mean thousands of people who review Movies, Video Games, Food etc. Have to make movies, be cooks, developers?

The truth of the matter is you asking me that you want to see any of my work has Nothing to do with my thoughts on your video.

I can dig up at least 10 wedding videos that go over smooth camera and great techniques, but why? My job as a viewer is to tell you that it looks good but if you were to find a better way to stabilize your shots and possibly cut faster in my opinion it would look better

I'm not certain if he ment it in the way you interpreted it. It could be just out of curiosity that he would like to see some of your work, but not to use it as a judgment on how much weight your opinion my hold based on your work. At least, thats how I saw it.

I agree w/ you vision_filmz, being of hispanic descent I already knew what a quincenera was and didnt take "explaining it" into consideration. Good point. In regard to the jitters, I guess i've been eyeballing so many 'homegrown' vids that its almost 'accepted' as something during the early stages of film making. I've been a victim of the jitters and am trying to work on it (when run and gunning)

may want to grab that flycam stabilizer... Chawk, you may want to look into that as well now that I think about it. its pretty small and will stablize your footage immensely, just need to be prepared.

Hmm... monopod/steadycam should be good run and gun accessories...
