New User First Post important startup question

This is my first post I just purchased the HVX200 and I was wondering what the most recommended tapes were to use. I want the best quality possible. If this has already been discussed please refer me to that topic. Thanks So Much!

Errr... P2?

Tapes, not sure if my camera uses those. ..

Tapes ... ? Why do you want to use tapes? You can use tapes, but for SD recording only.

If you are shooting HD, you can't use tapes.

If you are shooting to SD tape, try:

[DC]

For tapes shooting Standard Definition in DV25 mode:

Panasonic AY-DVM63MQ MiniDV tapes

. . . or at the very least Panasonic AY-DVM63PQ MiniDV tapes

And always use SP mode. Never LP!

Yeah as DC said, get the Ay-DVM63MQ (master series). Everybody else seems to only use those from what i've read. Also I read you shouldn't mix different types of dv tapes as they contain different glues which could give you a potential unwanted problem.

glues

Lubricants.

There was a time when some tapes used wet lubricants and others used dry lubricants -- the wet lubricants attracted the dry lubricants, and that gummed up the works. The information that I have seen is that only Sony still uses wet lubricants, whereas everyone else is using dry lubricants.
