New to the DVX100B and would like some tips.

I just got my Panasonic DVX100B and I just want to learn some tips on better video quality, shots, etc... Anything helps :)

Welcome from a fellow newbie. My new (to me) DVX100B arrived today. It is my first move into a prosumer camera from the old Sony Handycam.

Most of my use of it will be Live Streaming via Ustream, though I'm beginning to shoot some B-roll as well.

Welcome to DVXUser!

There's lots to see around in the forums. I highly recommend that you start with the yellow stickies both at the top of this forum, and in the Technical-DVX part of the DVX100 forum. Those are packed with tons of good information for those new (and even not so new) to the DVX.

Also, be sure to read up in the Audio forum, since sound is half the picture!

If you can find a copy of Barry Green's DVX Book and DVD, those are incredibly helpful for learning the ins and out of the camera.

And pick a tape brand and stick with it. Though it's really an issue of using nothing but Sony vs. anything but Sony, there's also a beautiful simplicity to settling on one and never having to make that decision again.

Now, all that technical information aside, get out and shoot! Play with settings, take notes as you shoot so you remember which shot had which settings, and learn how each change affects the image. It's a great creative tool, and the more you use the camera the better you'll know how to use it to tell your stories!
