It is very brief and focused.

Thanks for watching. We are currently submitting to festivals. I just sent a screener to Film Threat for review.

Thanks for watching. Feedback always welcome

Looks like you've got a cool tone and style going. It's hard to pull off Lynchian-esque stuff...so kudos for even trying!

Just so you know, when I watch the video it looks like it's squished anamorphic video. I don't if that's your intention, but it appears you need to stretch it out...

Best of luck.

Thanks....yes, Lynch is an inspiration, among others

i am having trouble with the stretch thing. My NLE gives me three choices when rendering: Boxed...Stretch...and Crop. This was the "Box" version, but I have tried "stretch" with same results. I always select 16:9.

Any advise would be appreciated 'cause it's driving me nuts

Native 16:9 off the HVX. It plays wide screen on my monitor. I just can't dump it out that way

The DVCPRO HD codec doesn't use square pixels, so that's why it looks squished. I'm not sure what NLE you are using (i'm a Final Cut Editor...but I'm guessing you're not), but when you export a compressed master of whatever you're file is, you are going to want to specify 1280x720 dimensions and force square pixels. Otherwise, it'll looks squished.

I realize that you'll probably iron this out before you complete the film, but it was a pretty big distraction for me when I was watching it. Then again, I export video a lot for a living...;-)

Thanks.

I use speed edit. there are many, many options when rendering. Ive been working all morning trying everything. I will try the 1280x720.

I would love to resolve this asap

Looks good, I like your selection of shots. The footage of the girl looks a little grainy but not to bad.

Your actor almost looks like a young Christian Bale from that angle (during the American Psycho period)

What was this shot on? What did you use for audio?

I found your yellow squished block letters to be asthetically offensive, didn't like them at all. Id at the very least change the color if not the font.

Thanks. This trailer is kind of an experiment for me. I wasn't even sure if was going to work cause it's so vague.

I shot on the HVX200. Sound was recorded on an Oktava plus a bunch of effects I created. The music is me hacking away on my nylon string guitar.

The font was something I put together fast....eventually I will sit down with someone who knows how to create appropriate fonts.

Thanks for watching.

BTW...I tried the 1280 pixel thing....same results. I'm gonna call a specialist in for this one.

Try "stretch" and don't select 16:9. Un-select it. You want the 4:3 Anamorphic to be stretched. You are shooting 4:3 Anamorphic when the camera is set to shoot 16:9.

The only thing left is that you place the 16:9 formatted (anamorphic) movie that you have into a 720x480 flat sequence (or project) and make sure the widescreen (16:9) format is not selected. Then the 16:9 movie will end up looking as 720x405 (flat) format within the 720x480 (4:3) format, with black bars on bottom and on top. Then render (if necessary) and export it out as a self-contained 4:3 formatted flat movie.

Upload that.

The trailer is quite sparse but I think that worked really well to compliment it's surreal tone. I'm really liking some of these shots, most notably the one at 00:45, I think you're onto something.

Personally, I'm not too fond of the title font. The fade in of the title appears borderline amateur albeit if it is intentionally done like that to pay homage to Lynch films, or whatever your reason then that's fine, but I'd suggest changing the font title if you're going to stick with the fade in.

Something more subtle for the font would be much more appropriate to compliment it's unconventional fade in. At the moment, with the outer glow especially, it looks like something out of those Photoshop tutorial websites you find on the internet.

Definetly looking forward to the actual film though, loving the look of it with the sepia tones.

Thank you.

And I appreciate the font suggestion. I was thinking of leaving the title off the front, completely. Just bring it in at the end.
