Care to speculate about whether or not it addresses the AGC?

Firmware Version 1.0.9 incorporates the following fix.

 1. Fixes a phenomenon in which tone jumps become noticeable in some images, depending on the shooting scene, when shooting with the Auto Lighting Optimizer settings (Low/Standard/Strong).

That's directly from the email i got from Canon 20 minutes ago. I'm kinda bummed that it didn't give any better controls but not very surprised by this. They want us to buy a 60d and i don't blame them. That's how business works.

I won't argue with you there. But if it can be made a little less sucky, then perhaps it could pass into the realm of potentially useful.

It's not so much that you can't get good sound out of these things, assuming you're using good mics and cords and such... I think it's more a matter of predictibility of quality. Particularly the cameras (T2 for sure, not sure about the 7D) that don't have manual control/on screen meters.

I've gotten very nice, clean, usable sound.... and I've gotten total crap.

for $100 you got a H1 recorder, if you are serious about sound, you don't even think to use a t2i for audio recording

the h1 with a twenty dollar Lav and im good to go for talking head stuff, and its then wireless too!

I agree, use dual system sound and you will have much better results.
