New Steady type Product! "Sly-Pod" Check it out!

I agree with Neil (iamloser). Get that very sexy girl out of the picture, and put someone that at the very least resembles a pro shooter (male or female). My first impression was of a sleazy site; it took a while to adjust, but first impressions matter a lot. No offence to you our your very sexy and beautiful model, but it was way overdone... bikini... come on. At least, if you wanted to have a girl to display your product, you should at least present her with dignity. There are after all female shooters out there, so you don't want to loose that market share.

Your site needs to look more professional. It looks like it was slapped on quickly; which may very well be the case. As mentioned earlier, PayPal is a good thing to put too. Look at other sites to inspire you. I also have to reiterate what has been said above, try to make better clips; put in some narration, a few one-liners here and there.

I don't know what the real price of the product is, but it should be written on the site. Have some comparative feature-pricing from more then one competitor. This will help emphasize the message that even though there are similar products out there, yours is of the same caliber, if not better, and makes more financial sense.

...I wonder if you could slap the girls hip and ride the wave in all while using the sly-pod to get steady video of the surfing ?? If so that's a damn good product!! ~reservoir~

Ok. I get the picture. I have ditched the girl. She was generic anyway, that is why her face was covered. I also updated the site some. I am not a web guy......It's still a work in progress and they are not for sale yet!! I was never targeting the "PRO" shooter anyway. Just ran it past you guys to get some feedback. Yhanks to all and let meknow about the updated site if your bored. (some recycled till I can shoot new stuff)

site looks much better. footage was not bad either. nice profile shot! need to excercise more maybe? :D im kidding...

are you planning to add more clips? i was clicking the heck out of the buttons for clips 2 and 3 b4 i realized they were not linked....

The page looks better indeed; still amatuer though; I'd look at similar competitor sites and try some mimicry in layout and design (not outright plaigerism) sp?

And whats with the BID NOW? Pick a price and stick with it. Makes it gimmicky with e-bay and a bidding is kind of lame.

..agreed. auctioning the product through e-bay is like making the customer walk into a flea market and haggle over the price. just choose a price that is fair, and be confident in the product to sell. many people will not buy anything worth anything off e-bay at all . myself included. just use paypal for transactions, and keep the e-bay sales seperate if you must have them. id never "bid" on anything i wanted to buy from B&H or EVS.

Nice footage. It's still not up to par with what my GlideCam does. But really nice for the budget/hobbiest shooter.

I have the same comments: Yes, the site looks better. Ditch the e-bay selling method and opt for PayPal. And stick to a price; auction biding for a new product turns me off.

hello,

http://www-2.cs.cmu.edu/~johnny/steadycam/

$14 dollars, I made one and the footage is fairly decent, it still depends on the operator though. I was on a video a shoot where they were using a real steadicam harness and I'd give blood to get those shots and fuid movement. Although the strain that the operator seemed to be under from the weight makes me love my DVX

this is MUCH better than this sly pod.....its not worth more than $20.
Plus this guy will make one for you.

New sample clips on www.sly-pod.com A few other changes also. A set price. No bidding anymore. E-bay is where traffic will come from and be directed to the website for more info, sample clips etc.. If someone stumbles onto the website they are then directed to e-bay for purchase. I don't want website and clips too professional because I feel it would be misleading, considering what the target user will be. This project will hopefully finance a real Pro Steadycam for me to use. Can't believe the site has 622 hits from DVXUSER.com This is a great forum. Thanks everyone for all the input and good ideas.
I will post when I finally get them on e-bay for sale.

Steadicam not Steadycam.... "I" not "Y"......

clicking on your ebay link at the buy me page does not do anything for me.. im running firefox.

I agree. I think one could make a similar device for around 25-30 dollars.

Not everyone is interested in building things for themselves.

Wadro is simply offering a ready made, "simple" device, on a proven design.

Very basic, but it works.

$89.95.......not too bad.

I would hope someone who is smart enough to download and install firefox could also type ebay.com

If you did build a similar gizmo what would you sell it for? Would it be for a profit? Or would you just build them and sell them for what it cost you, out of the kindness of your heart?

Besides, most people don't have time to sit around and build everthing they would like to buy. Show me a similar product for 20 to 30 dollars so I can eliminate my labor. In fact, maybe you could build them for me and I could really make some money.....

I'm sorry if I offended you Wadro, I was just agreeing that it was a little pricey. I'm sure you've put a lot of hard work into this product. Please don't take what I said the wrong way.

I was just having some fun with my reply. Just as you may have been. Sometimes we type what we normally would not say to someone in in person. This is often a good thing and sometimes not so good. Anyway this forum is great!! Thanks again for all the feedback.
