New Steady type Product! "Sly-Pod" Check it out!

looks cool but still seems a little shakey to me. also, get rid of the gal on the homepage...seems rather odd.

Now this may or may not be good marketing, but why cover the models face..? :-/

It says it's less that $100, so how much is it? $99.99, $89.99, ?

Look good, but I would be interested in seeing more product pics. And oh yeah the demo video should have some better footage, it's rather dark... I can see that it works, but your selling to video professional so your demo should at least reflect some quality

The head unit looks a little flimsy

I'm a stickler for websites and I would consider updating it a bit. You can at least sign-up for a pay-pal account (it's free) and allow people to order it that way... Using email is little weird..

hello,

http://www-2.cs.cmu.edu/~johnny/steadycam/

$14 dollars, I made one and the footage is fairly decent, it still depends on the operator though. I was on a video a shoot where they were using a real steadicam harness and I'd give blood to get those shots and fuid movement. Although the strain that the operator seemed to be under from the weight makes me love my DVX

A "new product".....no, a very old do it yourself project found all over the internet.

Find yourself a cheap monopod, put some weight on the bottom.

$20.00 or less.

Can you send me a link to the $20.00 monopod? That would get the
cost down. Thanks for the tip! Also if I had said "a very old
do-it-yourself project found all over the Internet" you might not have read
it and given me any advice, which is why I worded it the way I did to start
with.

Thanks for the link. IYHO Do you think by not having the swivel head and removable shoe, is worth the 20.00 savings?

I think this is a good product to offer

1. How much does it weigh? I would like to see that on the site.
2. A swivel head is a great idea
3. Quick Release is always a good idea
4. Update the website to a more professoinal looking layout and style
5. No need for a model really; showcase the product
6. Paypal is a very good idea

Have to determine a price point on this one; can it come with a release plate? Then again, not all cameras are the same. I would pick a market and go after it.

Keep it going! You're on to something.

bigone - YOu couldnt pay me to lug that damn thing around. That weighs more than my camera.

"...Now this may or may not be good marketing, but why cover the models face..? :-/..."

To add to that, why does every product need a a blond bikini looking babe to sell their product? Do they think we'll buy the damn product based on the woman?

WE USE A HALF NAKED LADY TO SELL US CAMERA EQUIPMENT!!!!!! Ok I'll take 2.=) No but seriously people it's just getting outa control!

be careful on the swivel head and "top stage" of this contraption. thats where your weakest point is and where you will see jitter in the shots form the stage being flimsy. this is whats wrong with the Master series Steadicam Rigs with motorized stage. they have a lot of jitter when using long lenses (look at the movie '15 minutes' and watch the steadicam walk and talk shots). ive had to clamp down that rig when i had to do a simple walk and talk to tighten up the stage and keep the jitter down..

ok.. digresssing...

if you are gonna make a quick release 'top stage' make sure its as sturdy and stable as you can make it.. spend your most money on this part of your design.

..really, are you going to buy one?

..IMHO you should ditch the lady and put a professional looking operator behind the thing. and if possible put them in a professional looking production setting for sample pictures of it in action. youd sell alot more by making the product look like an established pro product than by it looking like some simple thing someone thought up and is selling on a website with a bikini lady. people seriously interested in purchasing a steaady product want and need to imagine being the operator.. not being with the operator..lol.

anyway good luck with it. i hope it does well. i like the idea and the indi spirit behind the product.

dood....I was only joking. I agree though.....a more *pro* website with pictures of the thing in use by an operator and all that hooplah!! ~reservoir~

..lol i know you were joking bro. i was only making the point in an effort to help the site owner sell his product better. because evidently they were under the impression that sex actually IS the best selling tool for the product. ...at least thats the impression i got from seeing it in the hands of a bikini clad woman that doesnt appear to be involved in the act of cinematography or camera operation. lol

No, I think they are showing that even someone with so much obvious "jiggle" can use the stabilizer and have steady shots.

Um, yeah, that's it... :cheesy:

Btw - I think all of you are all too nice. The site and product looks like it was slapped together and trying to milk the market. As pookie mentioned, you can get the same from a reliable source for $20.
