I don't know Mitch,Cooke has nothing to do with the Sony primes, old set or new. Neither does Zeiss. Cooke did not have anything to do with the old RED zooms either.
Why do people think Sony cannot do this themselves? They bought Minolta and they make a lot of other glass. Yes they needed to learn about cine lenses but there are smart people there, believe me. These are Sony lenses.
I don't know Mitch,
It says "Made in the UK" on the Red zooms. They have Cooke lettering, colors and hard anodizing- Cooke is the only brand I know that uses hard anodizing. I seriously doubt there is another company in the UK that could pull this off. Abacus maybe but they have zero experience with true cine lenses...

They actually said "Yes PL". Hopefully they are as good as they look, at a reasonable price and a real PL mount.Sony during chat says...
"Peter Crithary:
Hi Douglas, Yes standard PL"
I know the person behind the original RED zooms, later "DigiOptical".
UK-based? Yes.
A person under the employ of Cooke? No.
Again, thanks for the info, Mitch!
Two more questions:
1. /i or LDS from these lenses?
2. a lot about the F5 and F55 seems good for stereo. Do you think those new Sony lenses would be well-matched enough for good stereo if for some reason you wanted to use primes - or do you think Cooke Panchros would still be the way to go if looking for lightweight primes?

we could choose hard anodising if we wished.
What I have not clarified from Sony is whether they will be for sale a la carte
Yes, they will.
Hello Les,
I wanted to write you today in regards to three things. First and foremost, I hope all of you are safe, well and dry in New Jersey. I can only imagine things are just crazy over there so please do not feel the need to respond quickly and I shall make this short.
.......
.......
The third thing I would like to ask is in regards to the new Sony F55. I have heard many people reporting that Cooke is manufacturing the new T/2 Sony PL Primes that were announced with the cameras. Speculation is circulating and I would like to know if you could give an official statement to whether or not this is true. I suppose I'll throw in a fourth thing if I'm going to be asking about rumors, so here it goes: When can we expect to find out more about the rumored Cooke Anamorphics? NAB '13?
Again, hope all is well in your neck of the woods and thank you for your time as always.
Hi Ryan
Sorry for taking a few days to get back to you but things not quite back to
normal here in NJ. Still no power and just very limited internet.
Everyone here is safe and sound.

........
I have no statement on the Sony lenses, other than to say we are not doing
them.
As far as a bunch of new stuff from Cooke I hope to have major
announcements at NAB 2013.
Thanx
Les
