Hey guys - what do you think about that video - even though it is 720p (also the downloadable Version)....what is your impression about the quality?

Would you consider this little cam as a usable alternative to the actual market offerings?

Thanks for watching, sharing and (hopefully objective...) opinions!!!

I forgot I was looking at "test footage" halfway through the clip
after a second viewing: it looks pretty nice to me

any issues with the camera's interface? I was expecting the A65 and A77 to have lots of stupid little issues (like: most of the stuff we want, like phase detection AF and in-body stabilization, to work only with auto exposure)
(edit: nevermind, I see it's not your video)

also check this clip, shot on the NEX-7 at ISO 3200:

Footage looks great, great person behind the camera as well as editing.

Great peace of art and a nice validation of the NEX-7.

Would love to see un-graded source footage as well.

Also where can I find some of those film effects, I've been looking for something similar for a Project I'm doing
thanks

I have a 5N and I am absolutely astounded at the quality. I now have about a dozen lenses for it, stills look amazing, video looks amazing. For the size and the price, I think both the 5N and the 7N will gain huge popularity in the "DSLR" arena. Full manual too. The controls are definitely different but I have gotten used to them. Much different than my 60d, but I like it.

Is there any reason why you bought a 5n when you already own a 60d?

I "had" a 60d. Sold it. Bought a 5n. The 5N and 7 and have 1080 60p. I was not unhappy with my Canon by any means, but I like the form factor of the 5n and the ease of adapting lenses for it.

I haven't really done my research about these cameras but are they on par (dynamic range) with the Canons? Really interested, but I seen some footage I think of Phillip Bloom showing how bad the detail was from a Sony 5n....

Everything I have seen including my own videos have been great when it comes to resolving a VERY clean image. I have not noticed anything negative regarding the detail, but I will have to look up what PB has said about them. But I look at this video and say WOW. Looks like plenty of detail for what I need.

Here is a Philip Bloom video shot with the 5n. Again, looks pretty incredible to me...

And here is PB's review... Where did he say anything about lack of detail?

Anywho, it is an amazing little camera and if you buy ine today, the "clicking" everyone is talking about has been resolved. I purchased mine about 2months ago and I don't have any clicking noises. But to do anything other than family videos, you really need an external mic regardless.

if you're referring to his Christmas shootout, mind you: there was a post error on the 5N footage, he's corrected it and uploaded the video again; it looks much better now (still some minor moire, but the huge aliasing is gone)

for the size and the price, the 5N seems to be a real beast - shame it's either NTSC or PAL, otherwise I'd have switched already

I'm wondering what criteria people use in deciding between the 5n and nex7 - different cams, but what are the different use scenarios?

Well the NEX7 isn't available yet, except to a very few online reviewers/bloggers with visibility.
I'm absolutely not an expert, but it seems the biggest news is that the NEX7 is the complete version of what the 5N promised.

Sony's video is crisper than Canon's HD video rendering, but not as good as the GH2. The main advantage is that it's small. Mostly that's an advantage for photography. For video, I would still choose the choose the canons because of magic lantern offering so much, including the recent HDR capabilities, which open up new opportunities and options.
