FS7: New Sony F7 XDCAM 4K Super 35mm Camcorder

BTW

I'd like to seperate our discussions to their own thread.
We'll never find interesting findings again if things are mixed up in 1 thread.

I suggest:
- 1 thread for CineEI/SLog3 and LUT
- 1 thread for waveform/histogram issue
- 1 thread for interesting accessories
- 1 thread for profiles in custom mode
- ....

Before discussing this any further, lets wait for the camera to hit our own hands.
That's a good idea Erik. I've just been trying to figure out how I'm going to use it before it hits my eager little hands, but can't go any further on this for now.

Also a good idea to break up a 137 page thread. Sorry if I went off on a tangent and disrupted some other important user issues.

In theory, I miss the ability to bake in LUTs in CineEI, too.

But I think I'll always use custom mode anyway to tweak the image to my favorised look.
Custom doesn't neccessarily mean you'll loose dynamic range or a certain look.
The look that can be achieved with baked in looks in CineEI should be repeatable in
custom mode, too. If not, it can be a problem.

But I'll wait to receive my camera and test this myself before complaining.

It's waiting for me at my dealers office since monday... :(

You can bake in LUTs no problem in Cine EI on the FS7. I have done it.

Read my post - a lot of these have been addressed. anticipatemedia.com/blog/2014/11/3/my-first-tests-with-the-news-sony-pxw-fs7-4k-super35-camera

Well, I put it wrong, sorry for not being precise enough. Fixed connections, non detachable cables are the problem. I don't thing there are many things that can withstand cat's teeth. Graphene and diamonds maybe (if they'll be lucky).

The C300's monitor unit is permanently affixed to its cable too. I agree - it sucks.

I should read these posts backwards... lol.. I see the link got out there.

You can change WB in custom only by switching to A or B and wither hitting the WB button, or going into the menu - under Paint - under white - and changing it there. Yes, not the most intuitive thing. I did make it an item on my user menu for quick access.

Ok - 2 more (last ones. I promise I'm not going to post these all nite) ;) . Same frames, same LUTs and effects... but this time I did what I should have done the first time, and used the scopes. Quite a bit of dynamic latitude to play with...

Much better. Just dial out the magenta a bit more unless you wanted that effect.

Update:

I've spoken to the powers at be and I know they are working on the new Fs7 section.. not sure how long it will take, but for now I agree that new questions should have new posts created.

This thread is suppose to be on the new FS7 camera and discussions around that. ie. shipping, delivery, delays, etc..

Troubleshooting threads should go into a new post.

Any opinion on if I should "close" this thread to force new ones to start? I dunno.

Maybe close it, but don't delete it as there has been lots of info in this thread. Can you move this thread to the new section?

I know so many people jumping on this it's not even funny. From all walks of life, RED, Canon, Panny,.. Sony has done a real good thing here.

We'll see. Coming from Red land this was/is all on a promise of 'everything easier' from Sony so I am expecting big things....

One promise I'll make you is if you come from RED and you like the look from it, you will be somewhat challenged to get a similar look from Sony.

"You provide the mojo".

You are very right. I have mostly shot RED and Cinema EOS for the past many years. When looking at what needs to be done to Sony footage to really make it work...I feel as if I have been a bit spoiled.
