FS7: New Sony F7 XDCAM 4K Super 35mm Camcorder

It will vignette. It might be OK at 35mm, as the image circle will be bigger at 35mm than 16mm, but don't quote me.

Yep.

If you mean the Sigma 18-35/1,8 ART - it's a APS-C lens and will
show some kind of vignette with a speedbooster on the FS7 in theory.

As I haven't tried that out, I don't know if this is true in practice, too...

Yea, thats what I thought. All my other lenses are FF....but I love that Sigma 1.8 16-35 ART. Everything else would work fine....but hmmmm that lens is soooo good for live event videography, it might be worth getting a standard adapter.

Now...if someone would do us the service and just invent a full frame 16-300mm 1.8 parfocal lens with IS...that would solve everyones problems now wouldn't it?

edit: with a user changeable mount :)

I use the Metabones Smart Adapter V3 with several lenses, most of the time with a Canon EF-S 17-55/2,8.
It works as described. IS and aperture works well, AF doesn't work...
If you wanna do yourself a favour: Buy the Smart Adapter V4. It works also with FF cameras in APS-C mode
and has the ability to change from permanent "green mode" to permanent "advanced mode". This means the
adapter shows the focal distance and the zoom position in your display permanently.
With the older firmware you need to hold the small button every time you switch on your camera...

No not like that at all. A simple test that truly shows how it handles a wide DR and highlights. Go outside in bright sun,
put your subject in hard backlight ( preferably a variety of skin tones and hair color (blond for hair color & black person for skin in shadow) , make sure the background includes sky, and a mixture of areas that are lit by direct sun and others that are still in dark shadow.

As simple as taking the cam and a person into a neighborhood front yard on a sunny day. Point the camera down the street so you have a mix of sun & heavy shade under the trees, overexposed and underexposed cars and foliage. Screw the sliders and dollies , screw the fancy wardrobes, screw the makeup people, screw the music, screw the budget ….. just the Beef please.

This should be very easy too find. Its a typical real situation that really stresses what a camera can do and that we face everyday.
I'm quite surprised that not a single one of these tests does anything like this. Its not that hard to make any camera look decent in soft lighting.

So far, maybe the best Sony produced/released video of all times. Not everyone's cup of tea as far as the creative I'm sure, but I like it.

The fashion photographer in me (20 years here in Paris), just cringes when I look at that video. Sometimes I just can't get beyond the content.

Cmon, better than Typical Sony video..

I wouldn't know. But what the heck is she doing in that dress at 37sec., with that hair thing and that kind of makeup in that museum lounge room (with those corporate light fixtures behind her), seated in that way, doing absolutely nothing? Bloody awful. None of it makes any sense together. Not the girl, not the dress, not the decor, not the attitude. That is the fashion equivalent of shooting puppies or flowers in a late eighties popular photography magazine and trying to pass it off as contemporary art.

Agreed. And the BTS video makes them all look ridiculous.
