New Short, Grabs O Plenty

This started out as a short for the Sci-fest, but it could not be done in time, plus the running time is going to be about 11 minutes. Just thought I would post some grabs from it. The film is called "the Delivery". Let me know what you think, good and bad, all is welcome.

It was good. you achieved the look you wanted, but I don´t like looks like that. I prefer more contrast and sharper, like The Island. But it was a different look...some shots of the dude´s hand looked like it was animated...also...it is a cool look because it reminds me of Sin City...not the look but the uniqueness of it. good job!

Asian is cute too.

I really liked the look of these. Very dreamy. At first, I couldn't even tell that these were actual screen grabs...they almost looked animated or CG. Very eerie, and creepy. The robatpoker one was particularly creepy. That lighting makes the actor on the right appear so gaunt and unsettling. I hope you'll post the whole film somewhere, because I would love to see how this look works in action.

Hey thanks guys, the comments are appreciated. Anyone notice a glaring abnormality about one of the images? Captain KickAss, I love your name! :)
I will be posting a trailer soon.

Looks fine to me. Nothing wrong with a personal stylistic choice. The grabs look really good. My favorites are the girl by the sink, the package at the front door, and the hand laying the cards down.

Thanks again. I did take a very stylistic approach to the film, but I understand that it is not always what everyone likes to see. Hopefully, when the film is done, the story will support the asthetic look. Did anyone notice the greenscreen grab? if so, does it stand out too you?

is it the close up of the man with the reddish brown shirt?

Just a guess based on the composition. I wouldn't have noticed otherwise. (if that's the one)

yep, that's the one. That scene actually is a transitional shot, it starts out with him at the table with his wife, the background then morphs into the poker scene, going back in his mind to when he played poker with his friend, hence the funny dreamlike colors.

Stefan,

The framing looks nice but the diffusion is too much for my taste. It just screams "Magic Bullet". I would tone it down a bit unless you want the whole thing to look like a dream.

It's a little distracting.

Thanks alot for all the comments. I appreciate the feedback. I have reconsidered some of my effects, mainly the softening I have decided to tone down, although it isn't Magic bullett rather multiple overlayed video tracks (I can't stand magic bullet). But that is exactly what I needed to know, just having people say that it looks too magic bullet'y' has givin me a much needed eye opener as to what to do. It is so hard to be critical of your own work, as you start to get "immune" to how it really looks.
