New SGBlade rig

Hmmm. upgraded achromat. new Minolta mount. Good customer service. Wayne is doing a lot of things right. I will probably put my order in this summer, I am skimping on the vegas lap dances and Mexican blow to save for it :). I just hope the dollar holds up against the LB. What's a lib anyway? Isn't it based on orange juice as a currency reserve?

Of course would love to see EX1 footage with the new achromat whenever someone gets some shot.
 
I've got SG Blade + EX3 and Nikon lenses, and I've got minor CA on my 85mm. hoarp001, I think your Zeiss lenses makes the difference.

I also have a little softness on the edge with the Nikon 24mm. I'm releasing our first project shot with the blade tonight ("Cinq étoiles", a rap videoclip), the teaser is online over here.

Unfortunately not, we are still testing right now. We are looking at releasing the upgrade by the end of May :)

Here is something I shot personally with an EX1, Canon FD lenses and the new Blade optics (replacement Achromat for the FLIPmodule and replacement condenser lens:

LB? Do you mean pound? LB is weight pound, pounds as in currency are either 'pounds' or £.

Are you saying there will be an upgrade to the Blade that will mitigate the CA seen with the EX-1?

The upgrade is intended to reduce CA, although it does give a slight improvement edge to edge sharpness.

Yes, the EX1 shows a huge improvement with the new optics.
 
Around £79 - £99 which includes a replacement Achromat for the FLIPmodule housed in an XY Adjustment ring, replacement condenser lens and lock ring.
 
I have the Blade with Flip and new optics mounted on the EX1 right now. Looks good, will be shooting a short film with it tomorrow, so stand by for some nice footage.

Not spotted any CA yet. Its looking promising.
 
I'll be looking forward to your assessment. I put off buying an adapter. Now I'm considering one again and on the fence between this and LEX. Have read good thing about Blade except for the CA.

I just watched this back and realised how INCREDIBLY boring this is. Oh well, itw ill tide you over until tomorrow. Will upload some shots from the film.

My magic shooting down dolly. I built it this morning entirely from bits i had in my garage. Its smooth, its designed for a shot of two people in bed, camera directly over head, and the shot dollys from one person over to the other.
 
Ok, even more good news. Just handed the EX1/Blade over to an experienced DOP, who stuck some lights up, and some charts on the wall and measured the total lightloss of the blade, with RR2.

The result is surprising. The blade with flip and RR2 AND a f1.4 zeiss lense looses:

1.3STOPS


?!

With the lens thats supposed to loose 1.4 on its own!?

We have tested this with other lenses in the set, and we have tried the ex1 in the same position, same settings, and this is definitely accurate.

Haha, love the downwards dolly, very creative. Though I believe that is were I would say "let's do a different shot" :)
