$600 isn't too bad in the scope of pro gear but it's insane for the HDSLRs...the GH2 has a built in 1.56 megapixel EVF and the whole camera is only $900.

This is a piece of gear that could be used with more than just ur dslr tho. Imagine using one of these with the AF100 while its in a shoulder rig setup . You could put it where ever you want.

AF-100 has a nice viewfinder and a great LCD, and I already have an HDMI monitor, which is probably what I would use with a shoulder setup. In any case, my point stands: makes sense and good price for pro gear, not so much with HDSLRs...which seems to be what they're marketing it to.

Yeah, if it's Bomb EVF picture quality I'd grab one in a heartbeat for an AF100. Not so sure that a $600 viewfinder would hold the same appeal for a $900 GH2 or t2i.

claim... there's gotta be a catch

Mabye not

how old is the red EVF

if screen technology is anything like other computer technology the res probably doubles and the cost halves avery year or two

This thing looks, and im saying this as a big RR sceptic, very handy

Oooh - thread title got changed. I intentionally left the brand out because I didn't want to advertise for them.

Had a bad experience - i was one of those first suckers in 2008 who bought the retarded first gen DSLR rig. Luckily it held value and I actually made a profit parting it out on ebay haha. Nice of them to throw in a crap first gen follow focus when they had the v2 coming out like 2 weeks later, also they failed to send me BLACK trim and instead included their LAME blue anodized screws instead of the black ones I ORDERED AND PAYED FOR. Customer service? What's that? Forget about it. No response, no fix. Lame, Lame, Lame.

Hey Dan,
Sorry to hear about that. I know Redrock is now a far different company from what they were in 2008, and for the better. They now have a dedicated support team, and as a reseller and friend of the company, I am happy to see far less errors in shipments/orders as well as a much better response if an error is made. Of course not an excuse, but I think in 2008 when these DSLRs hit, everyone was caught a little off guard with demand and overwhelmed.
I hope if you need more gear you'll give Redrock another look over, especially when their EVF comes out

I worked with a 7D this weekend, and I could have used that EVF. If you set the camera for a low shot, it's a real pain to look at the monitor.

Yeah, mistakes happen. I'll at the bare minimum be giving this little EVF a turn through its paces.

I'm hoping for a 1920x1080 LCOS projector/panel thingy in there - but I'm betting more like 1280x720...

I am interested in knowing what this is.

Higher resolution than Red EVF, but we have yet to see about color, contrast and other important factors when viewing a picture. If this is strictly for composition purposes or for operators only well then, this could be pretty cool.

However, someone ought to really go down to TX and show those 5D guys how to pull some focus. My god it seemed like Brian was giving a demonstration to the POV of a drunkard. :)
