On this website, which you would think would be heavy in heavy favour of the Mac because of its content creation market etc, PC's still equate to 82% of all traffic... so I dont know where all the Mac people are hiding.

Well, I for one have a Mac at home, where I do my video editing. However, right now I'm at work, where they use PCs (from circa 1994!!!). That might be a factor, all the people who browse DVXuser at their office, and most offices run Windows.

Back on topic, this looks wonderful! If this comes out for Mac, it would fill a very big gap in my workflow. Can't wait to hear more!

PS- Is there any chance this will support DVCProHD? Many HVX200 users will need something like this when it comes out... *hint*

Hahaha Brian, you've included a *hint* in every post so far! Actually I'm not sure about that (and can't be bothered checking), but I've seen alot of *hint*s from you in this thread!

First, you have to admit you have a problem. Actually I'm thinking we are going to have to have an intervention. :)

EDIT: Just did check, hehe, and all but 3 posts had one. I think you should go ahead and edit a *hint* into those, and rename the thread with a *hint* in the title.

Mike - is that a *hint* for me? are you *hinting* that I may have a *hinting* problem, and that I should *hin.....

ah, nevermind :)

 Oh, I am *hinting* alright. *Hinting* that you and your *hinting* problem need to take the *hint* from me, and get some help. Although you may also be *hinting* to the fact that your *hinting* has become contagious and I seem to be developing the same *hinting* problem and I should take my own *hint*. I can take a *hint* and see that I should stop *hinting* because *hinting* gets boring, really fast. I should have just taken the *hint* and put "...." and been done with it.

Let's see you out *hint* that, Mr *Hint* Pants!

...please don't. Haha :)

Haha, despite my Zombie banner and Re-Animator avatar, I'm not actually submitting anything. Reason: Don't have a DVX, or any video camera for that matter. I'm one of those dvx-wannabes who hangs around to learn :)

Woohoo 400th Post

The debate between Macs and PC's never ceases to amaze me? I don't want either, I need a really good confidence monitor that I can use to make sure I'm recording what I think I am. I don't care what platform it is as long as it works.

And since Apple won't license Direct X9 from Microsoft I guess it will have to be a PC. All you Mac guys should stop bothering the application vendors and call your buddy Steve and tell him to pull his head out of his iPod.

All the pros I know use a Mac. Hmm...all the pros I know are play/screenwriters. Someone told them that pros use Macs.

Yeah. They use Microsoft Word for the Mac.

Silly people.

Dan

haha, that's hilarious ... as a mac user ive had people come up to me and say ... yeah, i was gonna get a mac ... but it doesn't have Word. It never gets old.

Let's face it, until you see a third party OSX computer, mac will be a small market and never run the business world (which i think still mostly operates on windows 2000 servers ...)

Brian, you would be a god among men if you put this out for Mac, if not ... I'm calling Steve Jobs right now.

*hypnotized by the shiny-ness of the powerbook* "It's so pretty, I can't help it."

Yeah you gotta give it to Mac for its industrial design.. even if the tech kinda sucks... but there are a lot more odd design decisions that come out of the pc camp. My new notebook is made out of carbon.. sounds cool, but carbon sucks at disperciing heat. so this thing could cook eggs.

Anyways.. back on topic, I think if Redrock keeps this up they are gonna take over the world.

A hint is like a eye tick it never goes away! Love to see this for a Mac ditto!

Brian I sent you an email - I'd love to beta a mac version.

Also, I'd still be VERY interested in a micro35 that attaches directly to the body of an XL2 (as would many others). Is there any chance of this happening? Could you build a one-off and, if so, how much would it cost?

Thanks,

Matt

Hi Matt,

Our primary focus right now is getting our adapter to market for those who aren't fortunate enough to own an XL2. Once we get things done there, we will consider other product options. Your interest is duly noted, but in the meantime keep this in mind:

The micro35 is camera independent - so when you upgrade your XL2 (starts with H and ends with D :) ) the same adapter can be used for either camera, as can your expertise with our adapter and your 35mm lens set.

The camera lens is an additional element in the optic path, but it is compensated (somewhat) by the absence of additional prisms etc. in other solutions. Net result you are not as far off as you might think

Finally, it's only $500 for the adapter. Adding additional camera-specific versions would require us to raise the prices.

Cheers

Brian
