New Picture of the AG AF100

I like the last pic on top of the page on that site. Curious to see what kind of accessories come out for those attachment points.

Edit: Woah, is that a standard shoe on the side and the top when you remove the handle?

It's great to see that the line between video and film workflows (at least for narrative stuff) is finally being erased.

I don't know why people say it's an ugly camera, I think it looks pretty cool personally.

Yes. The Hot Rod PL kit is considerably more expensive, but it is also totally different in functionality and build quality compared to the cheap-o overseas mounts sold on ebay.

I know this because I have had people send me their ebay mounts in frustration, from the sellers in Hong Kong, Poland and Korea.

Assuming you get a mount that does actually fit a lens (several do not have the correct inner diameter). None of the mounts on ebay have a shimmable flange, which means your focus marks will never line up.

Every ebay mount has play in at least 1x or more axis, which means you get unintended image shift, exactly when you don't want it- particularly when you are follow focusing.

I don't know anyone who would trust a $65,000 lens on a $320 mount without proper support. A 1/4" screw hole is not all it takes to support that mount properly.

But you don't have to take my word for it. There's not a single professional rental house I know choosing anonymous ebay sellers over Hot Rod Cameras products. There's also a couple fairly unsatisfied ebay purchasers on DVXusers who may chime in.

Here's a picture of a prototype Hot Rod PL AF100 Tuner Kit. I'll have more pics up next week.

Illya, I know what you're saying about the adapters allowing the lens to shift a little. I haven't been able to find a Nikon F to m43 adapter for my Zeiss ZF's that doesn't have the lens spinning a little when you use a follow focus. Do you know of one or possibly have an plans on making an adapter like that?

FYI, your attachment doesn't seem to work.

threw a pre prod af100 onto my zacuto baseplate along with a Zeiss ZF 85mm and shoot35 follow focus.. worked really well.

The lens is mounted with the Voigtlander adapter.. its definitely worth its price!

Does your Zeiss ZF lenses move at all with that adapter? I get a little bit of movement with my cheapy eBay adapter on my GH1. But then even the 14-140 kit lens moves a little bit too.

The voightlander is great. Well worth the money. Makes no sense to have all this beautiful gear and cheap out on the adapter. I think many people may overlook this key piece of equipment only to save a few bucks. But with the torque of a follow focus, or hand for that matter, you need that lens to stay put. Cameraquest.com is you best bet. It is made well, very secure and best of all it can stay on the camera. I compare it to the build quality of an adater you might find in 35 adapters.

Yes I can vouch that the voightlander m4/3 to nikon adapter is top notch. Very solid and no play on my gh1. Just wish they made one for canon modern glass.

Illya, yep your link doesn't seem to work. I for one really hope to get a mount to be able to use some PL lenses....

Is there a projected price for the AF100 version? Maybe the possibility of having a combo option with Panasonic at purchase?

Hi Illya,

own the hot rod pl deluxe adapter for my gh1 - will it work with my AG-AF and what parts I may be missing and if so can I order them without having to buy a complete new set?

Thanks... rolf
