New Panasonic?? When?

You can relax. The HVX200 will continue in production just as it is for quite some time. And since we do have three new cameras coming out in 2007 with P2 as their base, you will not see P2 go away for a long time to come. Those are should-mount cameras, so the factory is busy making something new but it isn't a new HVX.

Hope that helps,

Any of these 3 P2 based cameras going to have 1/2" chips?

I have a Panasonic AJ-D700 DVCPro 1/2" chip camera that is getting long in the tooth and I would like to replace it with something that I can use my 1/2" broadcast lens with.

At least two of them are 2/3". Don't know about the mystery 3rd camera, and apparently we won't know anything about it until NAB.

I don't understand the difference between the HVX500 and HPX2000. From what I can find online, they both have a 2/3" chip, the HVX500 supports variable frame rates, but the HPX2000 is more expensive???

I have a project in '07 that we were going to shoot on the HDX900 & HVX200. But if we can do the whole thing in P2, that would be great!

I don't know what the difference is either. It sounds like the HPX500 does everything the HPX2000 does, but -- there's no way that it's better and cheaper at the same time. There are things we obviously don't know about 'em yet, some features that the HPX2000 has that the 500 doesn't. Maybe like the AVC-Intra card or something?
