GH2 New Panasonic Fast Zooms

There is no way they are constant F2.0 lenses when comparing to the F2.0 4/3rds lenses

Actually if you look at lenses for 4/3 and m4/3 of the same focal length and aperture (7-14mm F4.0 for example) that have been released maybe they can pull it off:

F 2 would be cool but a 2.5 or 2.8 would be a marked improvement. I find that a 2.8 gives me quite a lot of options for interiors where the F4 does not. It's exciting times for sure...

I wonder how the power zoom would work and if there's a feathering that would be allowed to happen of if it's jerky and such. I mean, it's cool to be able to have it move with power, but It's be nicer if the move could be subtle and such too..... But it's not that big of a deal to me, but it would allow for some good event videography options when clients want a push or such....

cheers all!

And Barry, got anything cool you are working on now or interesting things to share?

Panasonic has used lens correction technology in the past but the 14-42mm f/3.5-f/5.6 lens is an example of how extreme Panasonic is willing to go making it that small. I'm really hoping no worse than an f/2.5. On the one hand, although it's going to be very expensive, perhaps Panasonic doesn't want it to be too expensive and give it a constant f/2.5 but on the other hand, people are always comparing it's cameras to the NEX especially with the new models such as the 5N. Micro Four Thirds may not have a chip as good but it does have more verity of native lenses so having these lenses be a constant f/2.0 will make things very interesting. I'll be far more money than f/2.5 for sure but since it has correction technology, the price might not be too bad considering the speed. Still, the 12-35mm starts off wider than the Olympus Four Thirds equivalent but you never know.

The difference between f2.5 and f2.8 is one third of a stop... Is it really that big of a deal? Considering how small Panasonic is making their lenses I wouldn't be surprised if it's sub f2.8.

I'm really looking forward to finding out just how well the zoom works on the 45mm to 175mm. I am in the market for a more telephoto lens since the longest lens I have right now is a FD 50mm. It is between this lens and the now cheaper 45mm to 200mm. I really would like to know if the motorized zoom is really worth the extra $200.00 or if I would be better off saving my money and getting an extra 25mm.
