FYI.

If the above lenses (12-35mm and 35-100) were at f2.0 constant or just fully wide then these lenses would be essential. We all do hope that these lenses aren't insanely over-priced. If they are truly aiming at the higher-end "consumer" market then they should hug the $1000 instead of the $2000.

We'll see I guess...

it does say 3.5 to 5.6 and 4.0 to 5.6 on the lenses

Two different lines here. The top ones are the new 'fast' zooms and the bottom are the new standard zooms with motorized zooms and internal focusing. The tops ones will be fast (<f2.8 is the rumor).

Yes, there are two sets of lenses - one which is slow, will be (supposedly) be available in September. These are the 14-42mm f3.5-5.6 and 45-175 f4-5.6 (at least it is half a stop faster than the 14-140, and also hopefully, will have better image quality.

The really interesting lenses are the 12-35mm and 35-100mm due in 2012 (who knows when in 2012). The rumor site speculated about f2.0 apertures, but I think that is only speculation.

2.0 would be cool but id take 2.8 simply because itll be priced a bit lower.. im hoping the price range around 800-1200
are those preliminary photos? i wonder if itll have a power zoom too?

Sorry to sound naive but... What do they mean by "motorized zoom"??? Is that similar to something like a servo zoom???

Very few zooms are faster than 2.8 because of the engineering that requires.

Take a look at the Zeiss LWZ.2 Lightweight 15.5-45mm T2.6.

Look at the size of that lens, its price, and the focal range. It's a wide angle-only zoom and still only T2.6.

I imagine the new short zoom will be at best a hair under 2.8. I don't see how the wide-normal-tele zoom mentioned would even make it under 2.8. It would have to be huge.

Okay, still not seeing it. I mean, yes, there's the picture we've seen of the 12-35 and 35-100, which doesn't show any aperture. And there's the roadmap picture, which shows two lenses coming in 2012. Does anything in the Japanese writing in that roadmap picture say "large aperture"?
