Now i have my HC-X1000 and its recording very low volume sound with the onboard mic,i can find no way of adjusting the onbard mic sound, the manual tells how to adjust the XLR input volume,i only have normal rode external mics so i have to use the onboard mic for now.
Thank you for that, but the switches are on INT R and INT ,turning the dials does not increase volume ,the sound bars show apearing to show sound recording ok but the recorded sound is very low volume ,a faulty unit ?,i hope there is adjustments for the PQ that i need to work out as well because at present filming identical scenes with my FZ1000 and the HX1000 the little bridge camera blows it away detail wise.page 53 oft the manual — you need to put the switches next to the dials in the upper positions where "INT" appears - INT R and INT L. Then the dials will control the onboard mic.

Make sure the camera is set to [MANUAL] for the audio level settings in the [RECORD SETUP] menu - refer to page 55 of the manual.
Looks like quite a bit of sharpening going on with your FZ1000 footage. You might want to try increasing the sharpening settings for the HC-X1000, if that's the look you want. Also, this camera performs like its parfocal. For testing purposes, put it in manual focus mode and try zooming in to the furthest point in your shot - focus - then zoom out to reframe and see if that makes a difference in overall sharpness. Infinity focus should read around 95. If you're not getting close to that readout when shooting a landscape, etc. you probably won't be getting everything in the shot in
All that being said, it's entirely possible the FZ-1000 actually shoots sharper 4K footage than the HC-X1000. In that case, you'd need to decide if the extra features that made you decide to buy the HC-X1000 are worth the tradeoff.
Yes its on [MANUALl]for the audio level settings,i always keep the FZ1000 -2 TO -3 in the sharpening settings, not sure how to adjust the HC-X1000s at present.Obliged for the input.
All your camera settings seem to be set right for audio. It doesn't make sense that turning the dials does not increase or decrease volume. Or did you mean that the volume just seems low - even when the meters are reading -12dB or more? If you're not seeing a difference in the meters when adjusting the dials and you have your camera set as you indicated, then there must be something wrong with the camera.
Sharpness or detail level is set in each individual Scene File Setting. It's shown as V DETAIL and H DETAIL. I normally set both of these at -2 (minus 7 is no sharpening). I see you always keep your FZ-1000 at -2 to -3, but that doesn't necessarily correlate between the two cameras. Try playing around with the Scene File detail settings on your HC-X1000 to get the look you want. Of course, sharpening can be added in post. I've never had to do that with my HC-X1000 set at -2. Then again, I shoot in 4K, but edit in 1080 so my images tend to look like they have more detail due to downscaling.
Hope you had some luck playing with the settings prior needing to shoot the wedding. I have not used this camera indoors except for with controlled interview lighting. Don't envy you shooting a wedding - lots of pressure to get things right when you don't really know what to expect. Best of luck with your shoot. Will be interested to hear how it goes.
Yer, I'd like to see how your first shoot went.Thanks. I shot the ceremony in 4k, 50p and everything else in 1080 50p. I'd shoot everything in 4k but my PC can't handle it. The reception was shot in a marquee so there was plenty of natural light. The top table had their backs to the clear 'window' (more like a giant plastic wall of window!) though so shooting into light obviously wasn't favourable. Once I've edited it and graded it I'll share it here for you all to see.

Because the camera hasn't got a 1080p 120fps option, but does do 4k 50p, I don't see any reason to do anything other than 4k if you have the time.
When it come's to the setting you like the most, well all I can say is "God only knows when that will be for me", I'm forever finding things that might be better, but I've never had a camera with so many option's, so it might just be me.
Just got an HC-X1000, quite impressed so far.
I am taking the HDMI to a 7" Monitor. I can't get the On Screen display symbols to show on the monitor
There is a menu setting for Video Out OSD but it is greyed out and I can't change it.
Anyone else come across this challenge?
I have. My guess is you're shooting 4K 60p. If that's the case, you're probably going to be pretty bummed to know the camera will not display info on an external monitor in that mode. Really sucks if you're trying to use it on a jib. Shouldn't be a problem if you go to 4K 24p, though—works on both my SmallHD and Marshall. Don't know if it will display in 1080 since I never shot 1080 with it.
The other thing I miss is there's no wireless remote where you can turn off the info display (when it's available) on an external monitor. Both my AF100 and AC160A had a wireless remote and that feature was handy.
Bummer! It's manageable but that is such a stupid limitation. We can do 4K 60P, but we DRAW the line on putting the On Screen Display information through the HDMI Out while shooting 60P....weird!
Only if people quit buying X1000s to buy DVX200s instead... no way to know that until the manufacturer sees what the real sales trends are...Will the release of the DVX200 affect the pricing of the X1000?
