All,
I'm not sure if this is the best place to get an answer for this, but I know there are a lot of knowledgeable people who read these forums. If there is a better place to ask this question please let me know.
With the recent release (and dpreview review) of the Panasonic 20mm 1.7 pancake lens what benefit is there of getting the widely praised Leica Summilux 25mm 1.4 + 4/3rds adapter? The 1/3 stop improvement of the Leica seems hard to justify for over 2.5x the cost (including adapter) and 5x the weight.
These are the only two "wide" fast lenses that I know of that will autofocus on the GH1. I want a good fast prime and I have narrowed my selection to these two lenses. Autofocus is a requirement for me. Manual focus in low-light with a shallow DOF currently pushes the limit (or beyond) of my ability especially when I am trying to capture that fleeting moment under pressure, or I am filming and only have one chance to get it right.
Any advice on the pros/cons between these two lens is very much appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
