New P2 Viewer in the pipeline

I just heard that Panasonic is going to provide a new more sophisticated P2 viewer for fee. This viewer will be based on a product that has been developed for a large German Broadcaster. I saw a short demo of this client version. In a nutshell - the new viewer offers a basic editing functionality und should be more user friendly.

As far as I know there are no published infos available. All I can say it looks much more professional.

Neat. Editing functions? Maybe you'll be able to export the damned MXF into another format!!

Well that is what Final Cut does, It export(converts) the MXF's, wrapping them into a quicktime file format. Maybe I am confussed :)

Intresting on the P2 viewer program though. Since Apple's new update has already implemented this into Final Cut, which I think seems to be the majority of users around here. Would this be for PC base HVX users?

The P2 viewer is already out for PC users. What Im saying is that you can plug in the p2 card and view the footage IMMEDIATELY. As opposed to having to ingest it into an NLE.

To that effect-- It'd be cool if part of the "editing" functions allow you to convert MXF to another format on the spot.

Maybe this p2 viewer is going to be more like Canon's Console Software?

That, I'm assuming, would depend on if there are enough Mac's/macbooks/etc. with p2 slots.

THe P2 viewer seemed to be aimed at... viewing directly from the p2 card. But who knows.
