New p2 card

i just got a new p2 card 16gb for my camera, and after putting the card in the cam.. it says.. incompatible card.. do i need to update the firmware of the camera? i got my hvx last year and i have never updated its firmware.

yea it was the firmware afer all..card works fine now.. my only problem is getting windows vista to recognise the p2 card. also when i install the drivers it asks to connect the hvx via usb to the pc, i connect it but nothing happens. It's almost like the usb port doesnt transmit a signal..
 
I think you have to put the cam into dub mode.

Press the dub button once to get to the thumbnail view, then press and hold the dub button for 3 sec to connect via USB.
 
i do that..and the small lcd screen on the cameera turns black and "1394 device disconnect" is displayed on the screen.. but the laptop still doesnt see the camera.. maybe the usb port has to be enabled or something?
 
that means the camera is in firewire mode. You need to go into the menus while still in vcr or camera mode and change the "PC connect mode" (don't remember exact name) to "USB" instead of "1394 host"/"1394 device"

amazing.. another problem..the laptops sees the hvx..and i can open it as a seperate drive..but when i go to install the p2 driver.. it doesnt see the hvx as connected.. it keeps asking to "connect the hvx200 by usb 2.0" im using windows vista home edition by the way.. any suggestions anyone?
 
Make sure you go into PC mode. Press the MODE button to get to MCR mode, then hold the button down for three more seconds to get to PC mode.
 
barry i did that.. it flashes "USB device connect" and windows sees the hvx as an extenal device. the problem is at the part when im installing the p2 software from the cd that came with the camera.. when it gets to the part where u select the hvx.. and click next.. its like the software doesnt see the camera. Maybe its a vista issue, i dont know.
 
no the card works fine,. thank god.. hehe :) its the p2 software not wanting to see the hvx as being connected to the laptop. And the thing is.. i cant use the p2 card in the pcmcia slot until those drivers go in..
 
sorry..its the p2 software not seeing the hvx during installation.. it would be nice to be able to slap the p2 card in the slot and install the drivers without having to connect the hvx..

well then I'd just throw away your HVX... PM me if you need to find an environmentally friendly disposing apartment... err... facility :D
 
if i throw away my hvx it will be from a high building.. haha so i dont think there will be much left.. just kidding of course.. i would never do such a thing to my beloved camera.. im considering however doing that to the software cd :P
