New Odyssey features video on Convergent design's site

Nice find Chris but the video on their site was different than the one you posted. The one posted on their site gave you more examples of what the software could do

on the top-left you can see ProRes HQ as a recording option.
Nice find!

The interface seems pretty simple. Not the most attractive but at least it looks like almost all the functions are on the main screen as little touch-buttons. At least we aren't digging through menus to toggle waveform, peaking, etc.

Has anyone in here pre-order the Odyssey7Q yet? I am thinking about saving up for it now.
Yeah, I've had a preorder in with AbelCine in Chicago since the beginning of July... not sure where that puts me in the list. Hopefully toward the top! (But probably not.)

I hope this doesn't turn out to be like the Black Magic Camera waiting list dramas (joking). Would love to see some of our FS700 users getting our hand on it.

I'm supposedly on the list for CVP in the UK. Somewhere reasonably near the top (I hope).

Hi Colin, have you sent your FS700 back to Sony UK for the upgrade yet? If so how long did it take from when the courier picked it up to when you received it back? I'm currently awaiting a courier to pick mine up. Also were you able to pay over the phone for the upgrade? Sony haven't asked for the money yet. Thanks!

I got my upgrade done and returned in the UK within 5 days from pick up. You can pay through accounts department any number of ways - phone, internet etc. They will send you quote upon receipt of camera and full payment details. All in all was very straightforward and efficient.

Thanks for the reassurance Sunnyjim. How are you enjoying the Slog2?

Well it's nice to have for sure as are the other features but other than experimentation I suspect it's not something I'll use in earnest until I'm able to record 10 bit 422 as a minimum. For me it's all about using the upgraded camera in conjunction with the 7Q.

Are they shipping any 7Qs this year?
The situation looks pretty bad considering that on sonys own raw recorder the power comsumpition is between 15to20 watts an hour. That is a rough estimate i made after last weekends shoot
That is just to record raw, how about power consumption when inputing it, debayering, scaling and compressing, not to mention displaying everything on a 7.7 inch screen. I would quess that kinda processing would require a lot more power than just laying bits on a ssd as sony does with their raw recorder.

Available on CD's web site:
Power Dissipation 8 Watts (monitor only), 9-15 Watts (simultaneous monitor/record mode)

That is what they say now before there are any units available to test the power consumption with. They told us earlier this year that their product will ship in August, so everything is subjected to change when it comes CD. 7 watts is not enough for the processing they have to do for each frame, or it will be enough if they have invented a processor that does not consume power t all while doing multiple calculations.
