New Music Video

Hey guys I purchased an A1 about a month ago and I wanted to share a video I just directed for my friend Jamie whos goes by the name Karniege. I shot it in an hour with no adapter vividrgb with minor adjustements. I love the images it produces. Any feedback and or comments would be appreciated this is my first shoot with a camera of this calibur. Thanks. http://steventapia.com/clients/karniege/mush_small/

I really loved what you did with that edit. I thought it matched the dark nature of the song.
A couple of questions:
- How did you do that dirty lens thing?
- How did you do the time jumping thing back and forth etc?

Cheers for sharing.

Typical ghetto lyrics glorifying violence and stupidity.

Boring beat...

With that out of the way... you have made some very very nice images with some flashes of brilliance in your cutting.

Great job.

I hope to see more of your work.

A+!

ahahahahaha damn i should of put a disclaimer on it for the lyrics. Thanks for the comments and feedback. My goal was to make something totally off of what i'm seeing on tv every day i know the lyrics are typical but i needed something to shoot. When I heard the song the imagery popped out at me and i had to shoot it. To answer your questions I edited in after effects being that i dont have a full version of Premiere.
1) added a compound blur effect on the whole composition
2) added a black vignette slightly off to the bottom
3) added a texture map with a blending mode that i dont know off the top of my head.
4) I also used time remapping to go forward and backward in time.
I googled lots of images for the brain xrays the bones etc etc. Thanks again guys this site and the footage that I've seen on this site is why I picked up the A1.

Mr. do it all, I am trying to work on a music video in After effects but it seems hard for me to preview the tracks to sync up the audio on my cuts. Do you have any tips to make it easier to sync the audio and video in after effects?

Nice job. Cool cutting.

One recurring thought I had throughout was: 'With all of the effects that were applied to dirty this up (degrade the image), it could have been shot on a $300 camera and you would be half way there'.

Having said that, good work. Good luck to you.

Yeah that's what you call make a lot out of a little. Really impressive. The only thing I didn't like was the shot of the trash can - just took it way below corny.

I'm not into rap but I thought that your mates' song was pretty good too.

Thanks guys yeah it was just me and my friend. Funny tmnt my other friend whos in the interactive industry told me that garbage can shot was funny, that it stould out from the rest of the video ahhahaaha. Good catch im still learning.

To answer Raynalyns question. I start out with placing the music track in a composition. Define a small regine of the beginning of each verse and play with it until the music and video align. No science. I dont know how to record with timecode so i do it the raw way. I think if you get those first couples of words to match up with the music the video should play right. There are sometimes where the video starts swaying away from the music then you have to go in there and fix it up accordly. Hope this helped out.

And don't forget to kill that second shot of the bricks while you're there. :kali:

This is a top notch job. I like the time remapping & the x-ray images.

The fact that this is your first outing with the camera makes this even more impressive.

ahahahahaah nice that you caught that shot too. You guys will notice stuff like that the general public doesnt. I'v been getting lots of love for this video. This one video has spawned into a couple of projects hope everything works out. Thanks but i feel you on the garbage and brick shots. I'll probably put an image of freddy krugers gloves in there.

Well I think in this case your shooting and editing exceeded the artist's performance. (That's just between you, me and whoever else is reading this) Actually, that is the case most often with the music videos I see on DVXuser. Visuals=Awesome. Music=Not so much.

I guess I'm really not a big fan of the new music I hear*. (Except for that song/video with the 3 girls singing in German. That was fantastic! )

*For the record I AM a huge fan of 80's hip hop.
