New Music Video filmed with an HMC40

After more than a year of off-and-on work, I have just (well, a few weeks ago anyway) completed my second music video and the first major project with my HMC40. It turns out to be a very good budget camera for green screen work. See what you think.

That's a hoot, whatever it was shot on. The HMC worked well for you. I love the pizza box and duct tape scene. I've shared this with the members of my model rocket club who also get together for "bad sci fi movie nights" from time to time.

Thanks. Believe it or not, the duct tape scene almost got cut. The video was running much longer than the song, and that scene was one of the few that could be removed without affecting the story much. Fortunately, the band just recorded an extended version of the song and that scene was saved.

Thanks for all of the positive feedback. Indeed it was great fun to shoot but also a great deal of work, mostly on the animation side. This project little sci-fi project is in no danger of overtaking Avatar, but it was still worth the effort. There are some newbie mistakes here and there. I botched the framing of some of the shots and had to crop and zoom into those shots to correct it. Fortunately, it's not that noticeable, especially on Youtube.

Of course, I didn't do it alone. I have to give Paul (the lead actor and also songwriter) credit for his many contributions including constructing the set and making the alien puppet. Clint (the pointy-eared copilot) handled the musical performances.

Browsing through this forum was useful in helping me chose a camera. If memory serves, it was Barry Green who posted raw greenscreen footage samples from three different cameras: HMC40, HMC150, and a Canon DSLR (I think that it was the 5DMKII, but I could be mistaken). The little HMC40 performed the best in that comparison while also being the least-expensive. That sold me on it.
