New multi-format F3 adaptor from Allstar!

I'll get slammed but I know from experience, the F3 is a better camera and the images from both are very, very hard to tell apart, even on a theater screen.

Yeah, that's why all of the studio pics that were shooting Red Epics are pitching them in the garbage and swapping them out with F3's.

Each adapter comes with a rear cap, all kinds of adapters have the same rear cap.
Aperture ring has no limit on Allstar universal mount, the adatper dosen`t interfere with the aperture ring.

It's great that they come with rear caps, but when I was looking over this system for the Red and asked you if there was clearance to access the iris gear on our lenses your reply was NO.

All the Best!

Hey Tom,

All the good baseplate rigs are pushing or over $1K for the F3 (Denz, ET)

How difficult would it to be to sell your 15mm studio baseplate with a 15mm LW adapter on top of that...and you'd work out the spacing and etc?

Not one company has figured this out yet, as far as I can tell. In addition, the dovetail rig you have built INTO your Arri baseplate is ripe for keeping F3 rigs light as well...I don't love the idea of a full Arri dovetail just to balance what might be otherwise a small 15mm studio setup.

[edit: looking at more of the website, and it looks like you already make everything you'd need to do a 15LW/15studio setup. Can you list your idea of what the parts would be?]

If you want to mount F3 on 15mm studio base with 15mm LW rods, you not only need 15mm rods clamper, but also a raiser.
This is my new product - 15mm light weight raiser. The function is to provide 15mm light weight rods and to raise your machine to fit 15/19 mm studio.
The price is about $400-450, it will be available soon.

The other product I am making is 15mm light weight slip base. It has different functions from product mentioned above, it can`t be mounted on base plate, but it can slip into Arri dovetail to adjust the balance.
Moreover, it also has shoulder pad comes with it. If you want your F3 to be light and run 'n gun, easy to swap between tripod and handheld, then you will need this! It is more expensive then the raiser base, but I don't think it will be more than 1K USD.

huh?? It's a different camera, I wouldn't say better. it's certainly not the build quality of RED, but it's not to shabby either. I just find it hard to justify your statement when there so different to begin with. Each has their place depending on the job at hand. Im not a fan of RED as a company. But they do make some beautiful gear. And it's proven to be damn good. Maybe not so much when the redone released, it crashed a lot. But hey, they long since got it all worked out and have become innovators. Cant take that from them.
