Okay everybody, there's new trailers of for the MOA film. There's a one minute trailer and a 30 second trailer. They're very similar to the original but with a few changes. I don't know what the reaction will be and I've got crossed fingers but they're at http://www.the4thbeast.com so check them out when you have time.

Re: New MOA Trailers

I thought it was much better. Moved quickly and went through a lot of shots, so you were given a chance to get a feel for the different scenes in the film. However, I'd like to see more than just the fighting. It becomes somewhat monotonous when it's fight after fight. Insert some more dialogue scenes, and that will give it a healthy mixture of material, while also letting us know a little bit about the plot of the whole thing (the opening and the title cards don't press the storyline enough). You also linger too long on a few of the shots, which could be edited down, or could be broken up with several different angles. I think the fight in the stairway was where I saw that the most. Oh, and to reiterate, you really need to redo that opening scene with the super overexposure. Either that, or don't open with it. It sets a rough first-impression that's difficult to overcome.

Re: New MOA Trailers

I agree with all of that. If you're trying to hook in someone who's looking for a Revelation tale (and I like those sorts of things), you need to play that angle a lot more. Every time I watch one of these trailers, I think "hmmm . . . gangsta flick. ZZZZZZ."

If this truly is an intelligent tale of the Antichrist, in the vein of The Omen or Left Behind, and not just an excuse to have a lot of gunplay and fight scenes, show us. 'Coz so far, I'm not seeing that perspective.

Actually this is more of an action film versus a drama/thriller, except there is probably more discussion on the specific nature of the prophecies than in any modern endtimes flick that I've seen. Basically it's an endtimes film for people who wouldn't normally be into the old school brand of endtime "runner" styled films such as Left Behind.

I wanted to reshoot the opening but all of our actors have gone on to bigger and better things at this point. (Our lead is working on a big project actually). I am curious though as to how the trailer gives off a "gangsta" vibe. That's the first time I've heard that. I do plan to do a "story based" trailer with more speaking, but I don't want to give too much away. These trailers just intoduce the basic situation and who the good and bad guys are.

Some of them. The sound hasn't been through post yet. The guy that's scoring it does all that.

Then show us more of the discussion. I personally would not be much interested without it.

If anything I may do another trailer aimed at more of a conversational angle but I don't want to fool people into thinking they're going to get Left Behind or Omega Code because they're not. This is something different and to bill this film that way is to lie to the audience about my movie.

Think about it this way. I hate when a film says "The hottest action this side of the Matrix" or "an exciting thrill ride" or whatever the silliness is they say. You get it home and there's little or no action or the thrills aren't really thrilling or maybe it just isn't good style or plotwise.

Fans looking for a Left Behind style thriller will feel the same way. So it's better to depict my film as more action oriented than try to play it as a thriller. This is a smarter way to do it as opposed to having people feel they didn't get their money's worth or didn't get what they wanted. I think in the 60 second trailer (the one aimed for television) I do a good job of sitting the premise up without revealing to much. The thirty second trailer is more of a quick attention grabber. Something to get folks talking but without shalling out too much cash for advertising I can't really afford anyway.

Yes. It's a straight to video/DVD feature it's not a short.

Re: New MOA Trailers

say, is the film done.. i mean do you have copies available now. i would like to get a copy if i can. i just like watching independent stuff, and i like action, so i figure ill see what this is all about. is there any way i can order a copy or somthing..

Re: New MOA Trailers

Not yet. We'll have it available around August. The final scenes have to be edited in and it has to be scored and, not to mention DVD authoring and so on. I could send you a DVD pre-screener if you want but it would only probably play on your computer. But I will surely keep everyone here informed. You can check out http://www.endtimeinsights.com/ to see the book it's based on. (End Time Delusions). And http://www.endtimeinsights.com/modules.php?op=modload&name=News&file=article&sid=26 and http://mcdonald.southern.edu/sermons/98/0912.htm will give you a good idea what the movie is about.

Re: New MOA Trailers

I watched the trailer (1 min) and I agree, it does look a bit gangsta-ish. Also, as far as the post replies go, you seem to be thinking either dialog based or action based - but the suggestions (mine as well) are mix in a bit of both, don't be heavy in either. and if your film is feature length, then you shouldn't have a problem adding a bit of narrative, unless your whole movie reflects the trailer, which I hope not. The beginning promises some Revelations style Action/drama (whichg is cool), but then moves into a fight fest and seems as though the beginning were forgotten - you don't want to fall into the Steven Seagal trap of starting off with deep subject matter, but then moving too quickly to the shallow end and staying there, the audience will get The Benz (my horrible analogy for the day)

As far as
These trailers just intoduce the basic situation and who the good and bad guys are
It doesn't seem to really set up who the g & b guys are.

Re: New MOA Trailers

Much better. Tighter. I would also like to see a lil more 'play' on the antichrist take. This is much improved from the last one.

I bet people will buy this. Its the internet baby! People all over are buying films and this looks like you made a nice attempt here. Hell, look at Blair Witch :P

Those titles need a lil pro help though.

Re: New MOA Trailers

Someone said the music was a bit too hot...yeah maybe, but my 2-cents would be, replace the music altogether...sounds like it was done on a busted cheap casio keyboard with the built in drum machine...get GarageBand or something at least...it totally distracts from what's on screen and makes the whole thing seem really amatuerish, while on the other hand, you get a blazin' track behind you and it elevates the whole production, especially the action sequences...well anyway, that's my two bits like I said :-/

I'm thinking about how to infuse the dialogue and the action. Maybe having the dialogue come first. But in the end I want a steady flow of action and music. I do have some ideas though.

Especially since this is the first film of it's kind. An action film based on keeping important Biblical knowledge out of the public's grasp.

Yea, I am thinking about losing the titles. They actually get in the way. In the 30 second trailer I think they're right on but in the minute trailer they appear to be useless.

Re: New MOA Trailers

Wow, that was some mighty fine editing on the got milk movie trailer. A few of the shots were flat out gorgeous, too, although others were overly stylized or washed out, imo. Still....wow. The ambient sound and music worked incredibly well to create continuity even among somewhat disjointed images.

But obviously that was done on another scale with a much larger budget so I don't know if it's entirely appropriate to post here. It's like going over to the got milk website and posting the trailer to hollywood's latest and greatest. With more money, more experience, and a larger crew, of course it's going to be better. That said, whoever put that together has quite an eye for composition and a talent for editing, too.

Re: New MOA Trailers

um.. i don't know how big of a crew the got milk was... it's definitely no big budget hollywood production.

Re: New MOA Trailers

The Got Milk trailer is definitely sweet. Those guys have mad talent. Stupid title, but might catch attention.

As for Mask of the Antichrist. First off I commend anyone who has the guts and drive to take on producing their own feature film. You have to have so much determination to force yourself to make it through what must be a stressful experience. I wish to support your film and purchase a copy once it is completed, as with any DVX user who makes his or her own feature.

Not to be disparaging but a couple things stand out that to me may limit the appeal of someone(distributor) purchasing this film. The biggest being that in the trailer the conversation between your lead and the other guy who I assume passes him the disc - they are both looking frame left. Maybe in the actual feature you have one of them looking frame right, but in the trailer it shows a major eyeline flaw. I'd take it out(maybe have the guy who passes the disc be voice over and just have the look from the lead). Only other thing that stood out was when the lead turned away from camera and pointed out his gun it looked like he shot it. Next shot shows his gun fire blast. I'd either put a gun blast in the first shot, or take the other one out. Maybe throw in some gun shot sounds. You can find them anywhere on the web. As for the music - I kinda like the fast beat it's catchy. Sorry to comment on your show, just want you to put your best foot forward when you go about trying to find distribution.
