GH3 New Metabones adapter coming for EOS=>M4/3 that makes the lens faster!

I couldn't believe it myself when I read this blog post by Philip Bloom. Apparently Metabones has produced an adapter that makes your lens "faster, wider and better". I can't wait to get a proper EOS to M4/3 live converter that doesn't have a battery pack dongle. This adapter sounds absolutely perfect. The adapter Bloom has is an EOS to E mount but mentioned that an EOS to M4/3 adapter is coming. It's pricey, but a no brainer for me. I've got a ton of good EF L glass.

Interesting!

A little pricey but a very interesting tool to adapt manual lenses. There are some decent constant f3.5 and f4 zoom lenses out there that could become some darn sharp and fast zooms for m4/3. Of course still insanely heavy and full manual but may work well if you really need it. There are also some newer wide zoom range lenses that could become much faster then the Panasonic 14-140. For example a Nikon 18-300 which will be a faster lens with this adapter. Still not super fast but a lot faster and a huge zoom range.

NO NO NO. NOT A THIRD THREAD!!!!!

STRIKE THAT! FOUR THREADS!

Can a Mod Please combine these three threads? My brain is hurting from having to read 3 4 threads!

Thread #1: Metabones Speed Booster, makes Nikon and Canon lenses wider and faster!!!!!
Thread #2: Metabones Speed Booster - Faster, Sharper, Wider lenses on APS-C and below...
Thread #3: New Metabones adapter coming for EOS=>M4/3 that makes the lens faster!
Thread #4: Metabones Speed Booster

Or maybe a whole new www.metabonesUser.com forum?

(Sorry for the cross posting of this in all three FOUR threads. That sort of happens when there are three FOUR threads on the same topic.)

Yeah, but this is the first thread in the GH forum. ^_^

What's most exciting for me is aperture control and IS... My sister has a bunch of high end Canon lenses for her photography business. I'm going to be stealing them. >:-)

True, but there isn't a m43 model yet. And honestly, since the concept is the same for each type, wouldn't one place be nice? For example, in one of the other threads (the 4th thread I listed), someone :D actually recently posted that it looks like that Kodak patent expires in less than 2 months.

My apologies for starting another thread on the topic. I don't read other forums normally other than the buy/sell forum and this one. Philip Bloom mentioned that Metabones has mentioned a M4/3 adapter using this technology so I thought it was applicable for this forum.

Hey, I'm not a Mod so I don't make the rules. Just expressing my opinion and a desire not to have my head explode with all the threads I have to follow to stay on top of the discussion!

I'm so excited for this. It's truly huge for all of us with 35mm lenses. I just hope it's not heavy enough to rip the mount off my GH3 haha

Anybody who thinks it's magic that a focal reducer increases exposure obviously haven't set ants on fire with a magnifying glass in sun light.

SEems like the Active EF to MFT mount will be some time off, and there doesn't seem to be a plan for a Passive EF to MFT... to me, that's the best option we have and although I'm usually against mass emailing a company with a wish list... if anyone else feels like passive EF is necessary I would email Metabones' Mark and let him know.

I'd be more than happy with either Passive or Active, but IMO it should come before any of the other mounts as most of that glass can be adapted to EF anyway.

Hopefully someone decides to make the m43 adapter with a 2x focal length reducer... They would sell like hotcakes, more GH3s and BMCCs would sell, and most of those buyers would buy the adapter...

1.4x and one stop of extra performance is great, but double that benefit to 2x and 2 stops and it would be even more of a must-buy...

Don't get greedy  They stated somewhere, in the whitepaper I think, that there wasn't enough room between the camera mount and where the lens needed to be to do a 2x.

Shoot... I'll be happy for a live converter from EOS to M4/3. The speed bump and -.071x converter is a bonus, albeit a great one.

Oh ok, might work for another mount with a longer focal length though...

But yeah it makes sense since the focal length reducer not only takes up space but reduces flange focal distance.

I'm not being greedy, I am happy with the EF-NEX speed booster and mine is on its way, shipped yesterday... I'm just saying if metabones was a little greedy and they could figure out how to do a 2x version even if it limited mounts or a bit, they would probably sell very well.

It probably won't happen, but it would be cool to have a MFT to MFT adapter. Then I could use it with my existing Oct-19 to MFT adapter with Lomo lenses on the BMC.

Honestly have now thought of looking into getting an used AF100 and this "speed booster" as an upgrade from my T2I. Already use all Nikon F mount lenses and just a Tokina 11-16mm that is canon mount but could easily sell that lens and switch to a nikon version. Main reason I didn't want to get a Af100 was because I'd need to re invest in glass but this adapter fixes that.
