C200: New Inexpensive CFast Card Option

I snagged one of these on a whim and have been shooting with it for the past two weeks. So far its been solid as a rock (just like my Freetail cards) in my C200 and Z-Cam E2. $143 at Amazon.

No VPG-130 logo, do you know if anywhere in the packaging they show that logo? Keep us updated as you shoot more and more. Have you pushed it to it's limit, like shooting 4K 60p enough to fill the card with one clip? I'm tempted, that price is a game changer
but all of the usual caveats apply. I took the jump off the bridge with the EgoDisks when I first got the C200 and shot my entire Docu Series with them with no issues. These are less than half the cost of the EgoDisks, which is appealing, but is there a gotcha?
Time will tell. I will probably order one just to mess with and test before putting it to work in client projects, if it behaves and stands up. Can you benchmark it with the BMD Disk Speed Test and post your results?

I’ve recorded a full 4K30 card in one clip with no hiccup. Got a 250GB file or so. I’ll try a 60 after I get back from my trip this weekend.

I ran BMD speed test on it and it basically hits their promised specs on both read and write.

I’ll look at the packaging when I get back as well.

Thanks JB, much appreciated, encouraging to hear it's hitting the claimed numbers, at least with the BMD Utility.

Ok... here we go:

Not quite there on reads, but 420MB/s isn't too bad. My ProGrade cards are about the same... here's a ProGrade for comparison:

Here's the Freetail Evoke:

I also ran DiskMark on the SP and got similar results. Random writes in that test are basically a "worst case" and are not at all reflective of performance for recording (which is mostly sequential writes, the faster number).

All are plenty fast for 1Gbps (1Gbps = 125MB/s) CRL from the C200 or the ProRes out of the Z-Cam E2. I've had nothing even approaching a hiccup from any of these cards. The ProGrades are still my A&B card, but I'm pretty confident in the FreeTails and now the SP. I've ordered a second SP, so I'll update if there's much variance. There wasn't any at all with my FreeTails... they're bang-on with each other speed-wise.

A full card of CRL 4K @ 60fps has now been recorded to the card... twice. Worked perfectly both times.

Just used these cards to record both on my Z-Cam E2 and the C200 (I bought a second one). They performed flawlessly all the way to the brim.

Still working perfectly. No stopped recordings or corrupted files.

No clue on the 1DX2. I don’t have one to test.

Also the size you choose in the BMD app will change the write speeds, i.e a 1GB file vs a 5GB file will be dramatically different from each other.

Whatever the default is.

Doesn’t really matter at this point. I’ve had these in use for a half dozen shoots now without even a hiccup. They work fine.

I bought one of these (Amazon) to test. Filled the card 4 times, not a single problem. recorded DCI 4K 23.98 on C300M2. Going to use it as the "b" cfast card while dual recording this week. (29.97, UHD- that's what the client always records.) Will report back later.
Needless to say, the price is amazing.

used the card for a couple of days on a paid shoot- as dual record "b" card. No hiccups. Considering electronics can fail without warning, at any time, these cards remain "hopeful." UHD, 29.97, that's what the client records.

Encouraging guys, glad to hear real use reports. Unfortunately I already stocked up on EgoDisks a year ago but I think I will pick up a couple of these just to add a little more record time.
