New Hyperdeck Shuttle records compressed video!

I just saw the new Hyperdeck Shuttle 2 records DNxHD 220
10 bit. Apparently will work with both Mac and PC. Same $345
price as the original Shuttle. Also has both HDMI and HD-SDI
so can convert between them. Seems like a good fit for the
FS100 especially now that it can record compressed, thus
giving you more minutes of video on the SSD's.

I have an original shuttle but the implication is that this is a firmware update but it's pretty unclear on their site whether that's the case or not. I've fired off an email to support. When i download a windows 2.0 then plug in the shuttle it says firmware needs updating and goes off and does it. But i can't confirm whether it's actually done anything...

I hope the shuttle is upgradable, i'll be somewhat annoyed if it isn't (i'd heard about DNxHD support a while back and the big brother had it before xmas)

cheers
paul

I just went down this path. The originally released Hyperdeck Shuttle will not be upgradeable. You have to throw it away and buy a newer v2.0. This is both a hardware and a firmware update.
