New here...got some questions

Hi all, got some questions: I'm getting ready to buy my HVX200 and I've learned from you all that I need to buy from authorized dealer....plan to.....any suggestions? Also planning on not shooting to much HD until I get my new computer. Avid PC user planning on switching to mac, should I go with G5 2.5 or macbook pro. I'm planning on using something like dvrack for HD capture but I was wondering if anyone has ever used a free program called HDVSplit? Free HD capture sounds good to me even if I have to strap a laptop to my back. Anyway I got about $8000 to spend on both the cam and mac. Oh yea last question is the transfer from Avid to Final Cut that hard.... because if I'm goin mac I gotta go all the way.

Some here say to wait with a Mac purchase until next month, as they are about to come out with something faster....then again, that would be true most of the time!

DV Rack is PC only and is used mostly with laptops.

Might get it running on a MBP with Boot Camp but I believe DVRack does not work well with OpenGL.

HDVSplit, I believe, is for streaming HDV acquisition and of course the HVX200 is DVCPro.

Thanks....and thanks, I think my HD recordings will have to wait, I'll keep saving my money, well I'm married so I guess I'll just wait til I can get another loan.
