New Handheld Stable Device from Bogen!

Woah! hey!

Bad wording I guess..

What I mean is that the $14 thing has its ways of improving the shot, but it does break most all of the rules of a convetional "Inertial stabilizer" ...Just like the Manfrotto "Stearing-Cam" thing.

I'm sure they improve the shot somewhat. ;-)

They fall into the "fool and his money........." catagory.

Not only are they very ackward to use, the strain on your back is quite amazing.

I won't get into how you look using one.

lol aren't you curious at all how effective they are though? I mean, I've gone handheld for 7+ hours before and my arms back and legs are always sore when I do that. This is really no different, other than the weight is able to be shifted away from your body.

I have to agree about the back and arm strain factor. I've downloaded the pdf file on the fig-rig and for the life of me can't see the value???

I can't see this thing working at all. Like everyone said, you have to suppor it with your arms only. Also, how are you supposed to focus the camera? NO auto focus for me Please.
Get a Dvrig pro instead, you can use both hands at all times, heck you can take your hands off completely. It's probably not a joke, but it will be once it gets released.

I think it's about $1600 -- don't remember where I saw that. But after a certain amount of use, it also qualifies you for a bus driver's license!

OFF TOPIC:

Just balking about the monsterous prices of certain, eclectic video accessories... Has anyone looked at the P+S Technik Skater Mini? It's a 18inch wide dolly with three rollarblade wheels designed for tabletop photography... and it's over $6,000.00...

The mini35 actually sounds like a deal in comparison... I know the market for these is small, but still, it's patented and really expensive.... I want one really bad... you know, maybe I could make a copy and call it GuerillaMini or MicroMini or something. What do you think>???

You have got to be kidding! Someone would have to be nuts to put an expensive camera on something like that. Oh wait, I'm going to rush out and pull the steering wheel out of jeep and strap my DVX to it. When I first saw this thing, I thought it also was a joke. Guess not. Anyway can't blame someone for trying.

PFP, I think the point is that most of us don't see a sound principle behind the ergonomics. Imagine holding two ends of a steel beam that's the diameter of that wheel, and the camera's mounted in the middle of the beam. How do you get stability, trying to control it with arms extended? How would the wheel be any different?

I do think it would be fun to shoot a documentary on Rube Goldberg with it!

youd have to buy a stand to hold it on since it wont stay put on it own.. or you carry it around everywhere you go.. there is no effective CG nodial point on this contraption...

but.. i still hear wallets opening and moeny being gushed out for this piece of ... steering wheel...

Maybe the design was found in the Howard Hughes archives. "Cameras are crawling with germs, so if I mounted it in a large ring of aircraft aluminum, I wouldn't have to actually touch the camera. How far can germs jump? Okay, make the diameter of the ring twice as large!"

lol.

correct info.

LOL... all you have to do now is add flames around the ring and have someone drive a race car or motorcycle thru it...

this thing is silly..

but.. as i say.. "build it and they will come...."

this will not work in cramped environmtents...
