NEW GUY PVC rig w/ Follow Focus

Hello all, New to the forum... first post also.
I am just getting into the video end of my 7d and built a rig for it.

I am sure it has been done before, I have seen one in wood.

Still need an eyepiece and a nicer quick release mound but it works for now.

Let me know what I need to change to be more ergonomically, like I said I am new to the video side.. all your input is welcome

Don't let other people tell you what's more ergonomic. If it's comfortable and the footage looks good, rock on brother. Looks awesome.

How does the FF work?

RC Car steering linkage for the Follow Focus, It is connected to the left hand handle. Need to finish up the padding with me bike grips or grip tape... but otherwise I am happy.. Thanks for the nice comments!!

Three cheers for innovation - I have NEVER seen a shoulder mount with a follow focus built into the handle this way.

Yes, this is the follow focus I got the concept from. Great idea and was very easy and cheap to build. The FF takes some adjustments and tweaking but anyone that is handy can pull it off.

Wait til you see my version of this Rig, I've built a whole new shooting style that my artists call "Camera Swag", by the way I can rack focus constantly in rhythm and do wild things with the IS and camera shake. I made mines from aluminum and RC parts as well. It has a 7in monitor and counter weights. Pics later.

I saw the original video of the wooden version of a similar rig and fell in love with the follow focus design. My ideal rig would have two adjustable handles that turn focus and zoom rings on my lenses. They would also have to have a small record button on the handle somewhere easily accessible.

Great simple rig man. The only thing i would think you may want to change is to make the distance between the camera and your eye a bit shorter if you plan on using a loupe. That and adding some counter weights.

Keep on building man!

Oh, BTW the mount slides! so depending on how I am using it i.e loupe or straight up I can slide it back and forth. It can also be made to control both zoom and focus. button would be easy... That would be next, hollow PVC pipe.... wires can be run any and everywhere!
