GH4 New GH4... will the lens adapter work?

Hello,
I am thinking of getting the GH4 but didn't want to invest into a ton of panasonic lenses as I have alot of canon lenses already. Can anyone tell me if the fodiox adapter works well with canon lenses on the GH4?

I don't care about the auto focus as I never use it, just want to use my canon glass. Any suggestions as I am guess the metabones speed booster is not on the market yet.

Or should I just budget for the 12-35 2.8 lens and call it day :)

thanks

Unfortunately there is no usable way to use Canon EF glass on M43s mount cameras, yet. The problem is that these lenses need electronic connection to change aperture, to power IS, to power AF, and even in some lenses to power the manual focus ring (like 85mm f1.2)

You can get a dumb adapter though and use the lenses fixed at wide open iris, without IS, or AF if you can shoot that way!

A Metabones Speedbooster with EF electronics for M43 is coming soon, maybe tomorrow, maybe months away, but it will come. Then we'll be able to use our Canon lenses fully with IS, AF, Iris control + get the normal s35 field of view on the GH4 4K sensor. It will be a glorious combo!

fodiox adapter is total junk on any lens faster than f2.8. Results are usable around f5.6 maybe. Not sure of the link, but there are videos out there comparing it to the metabones nikon adapter and it makes it clear that the metabones is worth the money.

This is not completely accurate, the Redrock Live adapter allows full control of the aperture on canon lenses.

I got a strait through that fits all my canons for $15 and I use it the most so far

also got one with an aperture, actually works well, but the Canon 10-22mm wide doesn't fit in to it (not a big deal though)

(wow that price went up!)

and the china "Lens Turbo" "Focal Reducer" speedbooster wanna be from ebay. works fine, little fuzzy at 1.4 - not as good as speedbooster optics, but it is here, now and useful $150-ish
(I'll post some video frames from it if you want)

I did by the 12-35mm 2.8 and do recommend it as a one size fits most deal. Auto everything and Image stabilization can be helpful here and there.

Do you want an adapter or a focal reducer? They're not quite the same things.

Focal reducer you will have to wait for the Speed Booster, because the others to me take too big a hit in the quality level.

Adapters you can get a Novoflex which has built-in aperture blades to control the aperture with, or one of the cheaper Chinese ones which will also have said blades. Note that they still won't be cheap as a plain adapter tube, but at least you can control the aperture.
