New Genus View Finder

I haven't seen a thread made on it, so figured I'd start one. It looks interesting to say the least. I do a lot of filming on my shoulder, and sometimes get tired of having to constantly looking through an eyepiece, and this may be what I'm looking for. It seems as if it can be used in a high/low position - or just as a sunshade. When using a field monitor is out of the question, and using an eye piece type viewfinder gets tiresome, this looks to be a promising alternative. What do you guys think?

And it's only $44.95

I believe so - if you're looking at it from a top or bottom perspective. But if you have the door slid all the way back, you can look at it in a horizontal orientation, which it acts pretty much as a sunshade (which I'd use it for). So it looks like a decent alternative when a field monitor is out of the question, and also when you don't feel like glueing your face to an eyepiece.

If you have ever used a 4X5 view camera you will know that after a while your brain adjusts to the flipped view and it starts to become easier to work with. Not a bad unit to have for cheap.

You can put your now-obsolete 35mm adapter on the front of your HDSLR to help right the image...

Great idea, actually. When I used to shoot weddings, using the waist-level finder on my Hassy often made for the best perspective. I think shooting video at 3.5'-4' elevation instead of eye-level might have some real aesthetic benefits. Now we just have to get Zacuto or Teddybear to develop a waist-level rig.

btw, it uses a compound mirror. I think it keeps the image right-side-up.
