new FX 7..

I know what you're talking about. The HC1 was more pro than the consumer, like the FX1, but the HC3 and FX7 are more consumer-oriented. But that's Sony Consumer, not pro.

Thats SONYS problem !

Follow me for a minute:

I like to think FX1E (thats why I bought it) when comparable to other prosumer HD camcorders or SONYS own Z1, what Silicon mini stands for the same companys full pacage. In both situations we have the same picture quality but luck some extra characteristics with gives us more flexibility. I do not do weddings, I do not seek for a camera that can do everything, if so I would choose Panasonic or Jvc. I am an indie filmaker and I do not give a dime for XLR inputs because I care about image quality and image quality only, in the BEST price avalaible. 3.000$ IS the best price avalaible for 1080i.
Now, about CineFrame. 24,30 I don't have an opinion. I have read they suck, most probably thats the case. But CineFrame 25 works and I challenge anyone to prove otherwize. You do lose final resolution but you end up with better or equal resolution of 720p cams. Furthermore with this baby you take the word noise out of your vocabulary.
So how a camera like that can be labeled consumer?

Well, the next Step-up from Z1e is the HVR-V1E, 3 CMOS sensors, giving full/real 1920 x 1080, true progressive(yes), 4:2:2. It's smaller and lighter and cheaper.

Did I say I was changing companies?

well like the FX1 Sony soon followed with the Z1. Maybe a pro model of this is coming.

The FX7 actually makes sense from a sony point of view follow me a minute:

Consumer==============Professional
HC1========FX1=======Z1U
HC3========FX7=======V1U

It looks like anytime sony uses a larger number than the predecessor it is a model that has been scaled back.

When they use a NEW code it is a non-scaled back model.

Well now i want to se pictures.

to bad they went hdv instead of avchd

panny has the chance to drop a killer here.

i have to say, im glad i bought a fx1 a while back. I feel sorry for people that need a camera now. It seems like we are on the edge of a big change. Waiting seem like the best option to me.

Well, first of all I was wrong, they did actually introduce another HDV model...

... but am I reading this right? The zoom and focus ring is the SAME ring? And they added a second ring to the lens to control iris? That's odd.

you were wrong twice,,,I guess sony is not done with HDV yet.

any chance of a DVX100 with hdv?

yeah yeah but i'd like to know what he wants to mean when he is saying: barry made ANOTHER wrong prediction.. i thought here barry was beloved by all..

Barry is loved by all here, just like we all love each other at DVXuser. That doesnt mean you cant be wrong.

We are here to discuss cameras and film-making, so the point is to find the best cam for our purposes. Nothing personal...
