FS7: New FS7 little brother?

How long will the waiting time be? The FS7 has only just cleared backed up pre-orders.

If you're interested in the FS5 I'd get an order in sharpish.

There was an A7s II announced? I want THAT!

Much better b-cam for my style than FS5 :-) Allthough FS5 would be nice if sub $5000

Edit: A7s II costs 3400 euro? While current A7s costs around 1600 euro? That cant be right?

The new α7S II full-frame interchangeable lens digital camera from Sony will be available in Europe in November 2015, priced at approximately €3400.

Hmm, I think if it was smaller it would be great for gimbals. As it stands it appears to just be for people who really want but can't stretch to an FS7. A7s II for me :)

Same for me Ben, but did you see the A7s price? Literally 2x the price of current A7s, and not really a huge upgrade other than recording modes.

At 5000-ish it's a great all rounder, like a C100mkii with an 8bit 4:2:0 4K option.

But 7 grand? very close to the fs7, VERY.

A7sII, the moment I see overheating tests I'll get one. Very cool toy on paper.

I find It more interesting that the A7sII has sLog3 now

Sony are very clever, the A7sII only records 8 bit internally which is useless for SLog3 which means an external recorder is a cumbersome extra expense. So if you're shooting HD and want 10 bit you'd be better off with the FS5. But if you want to shoot 10 bit 4K you'll need an external recorder so you might be better off with an FS7... and so it goes on.

I tried to start a non speculation thread. http://www.dvxuser.com/V6/showthread.php?340224-PMW-FS5-Announced

Anyway - sounds like ok 1080 camera - actually awesome - cheap 10bit - blows the C300/C100/FS700/Any DSLR 4k or not.

Small light box - nice
Ergos.. probbly a bit of a mess
HFR burst - probably soft

Slog 3200 - hmm - something strange going on there - probably not good strange.

If I had loads of money Id get one for going to the park. With a tight wallet nothing is really drawing me in.

Actually that 'clear zoom' is nice.

No different Im guessing than shooting 4k and cropping but actually do it in camera is good. nice with a 17-55 or suchlike.

Exactly, and it's not cheap, either. But the monitor is detachable. Perhaps that leaves an opportunity for one of the third-parties to bring out a smallish recording monitor to replace it. That would be a neat solution for an external recorder.

The variable NDs sound interesting but if it produces dead flesh tones like all VNDs that went before it then it's not a great idea.

It looks like there's no physical NDs just preset positions for the VND.

I wonder if the VND is the reason why some of those launch video shots looked off in WB? VNDs I've used could not be described as neutral by any stretch of the imagination.

While the variable ND sounds interesting it might be a massive gotcha.
