FS7: New FS7 little brother?

Pah, would be boring if we all agreed and used our gear the same way.

I'm not the boss of this shoot sadly, but am seriously bloody looking forward to it!

Im sure we all agree - basically a shrunk alexa mini for £2g - it is how we compromise in the mean while that varies!

Good point. About time they pulled their finger out tbh.

Apropos of nothing, here's the car we are playing with tomorrow :)

I know one thing I can't wait till Friday. I am seriously close to plopping down money on the FS7. Its just that dang BMD image that is stopping me.

Creative Ventures seem to sometime jump the gun to be first, so wonder if they really know or just speculating and putting it up there to be "first" and hope to generate pre-orders by that?

I was guessing surely the lack of XDCA-like raw output in the FS700/FS7 to the Odyssey Q7+ licence on this new camera, but your insight tells me it might come from being informed as a company there's an additional model to include in the license support:beer:

I'd be surprised if it had an SDI connection at all but your comments make me wonder :)
That's some fascinating pretzel logic you've got there! Don't hurt yourself with all those contortions.

They say A7S Sensor, I deeply hope it's fs7's s35. Topping at XAVC-L is also weird, it's just the slobby way to remove the 10bit spec. Almost nobody uses XAVC-L. And I wouldn't believe they leave the fs7 menus and grey them out, I mean they're not that slobby too.

'XAVC-L

No Loupe with LCD
No XDCA Extension connector
No Grip Handle ...
More Menu settings greyed out ...
but ..A7S sensor ''

Not sure it makes sense to simply put the A7s sensor in a bigger box and keep the output pretty much the same....you can get the A7s for about 1700$ now so unless Sony provides better files I don't see how charging an extra 2500$ will get people excited....

If it's the A7s sensor three things MUST be fixed:

Rolling shutter,

Aliasing at 4K,

Weird colours and excessive blue artefacting.

I am still wishing for the s35 4K sensor in the fs700/fs7/f5, really a much better chip (14 stops of DR in raw performance at 2000 ISO vs 10-11 stops, no aliasing, minimal RS, great colours, high speed, similar lowlight performance, and can go FF with a SB).

Maybe it's an expensive sensor for a 5000$ camera but again it's now in a 4000$ one (FS700),

so unless they significantly improve upon the A7s sensor I hope it's not put as is in a camcorder body for +5000$.

Wouldn't be surprised if the 'leaked' specs are completely wrong, but IF there are greyed out menus I wonder if these will be for features only available via pay-to-play firmware updates/keys. Seems a number of manufacturers are moving toward a similar model.
