New Flexible LED Panels

I purchased a bicolor RX-12TD and despite it has only 50W it doesn't work with my Bebob V95, V98 or V150 battery. Blue display lights for a millisecond that's all. Works fine with AC. I have a cheapo MAXOAK 12Ah/177W and it's the only one it works with. An ideas if I can get it working low <100W battery for airline compatibility? Many thanks

That's odd, my 18TD works fine with my power-u 150wh and 95wh v-mount batteries, though I haven't really tested at full power for long periods of time. You sure you have the switch in the right position and the cable connected properly? I though one of mine was broken once but the header cable was plugged in wrong even though it seems like it should only be able to go in one way.

thanks for the fast reply, Noah. Yes, the switch is working and the cable is connected properly. It works fine with the stronger battery MAXOAK 12Ah/177W but not with my V98 or V150 which both are new. It's weird because even the Aputure LS 1cs and Aputure Light Storm COB 120d power up with a V98 though both draw much more power and a 200W battery (or high output) is recommended for those. Maybe the controller needs too much power?

I purchased the RX18TD additionally plus two recommended batteries. The panel but itself is great. I used it for still photo portraits in industrial environment, mostly running at 4500K. Unfortunately these batteries are not suitable for traveling by plane. Maybe a dual V-Mount fin plate would work with two 98wh batteries? I wonder what's different with your controller Noah?

Hmm the improvements (more compact rolled size, wider source, remote control) in the new rx-29tdx is looking really tempting, might have to try to sell off my rx-18td to justify it though. Anyone try the new lights who can report about them?

Lowest price I've seen so far is on ebay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/302423555278
Looks like fast shipping too...

A few Trevor updates I've noticed.

They are selling a battery solution for the 3030 and 3060 panels. It seems to be four Sony NP battery plates with a DC plug output all mounted inside a soft zipped bag.
If the four batteries were wired in series they'd produce about 30 volts, so I wonder if there's a step down converter inside the unit as well?
I'll ask them and see if they reply.

They now make a 1x3 panel, although it seems to only be sold as part of a larger kit.
They've changed the connector system on these panels
They are offering different strengths of diffusion in the multi light kit
And lastly they've screen printed their name on the back on the panels.

Have you (or anyone else) purchased one of the rx-29tdx ?

Keen to hear your feedback.

cheers

I haven't yet, nor have I seen any other feedback. There is at least one (probably sponsored?) review on youtube. I have every reason to believe it's essentially the same as the rx-18td but with a different form factor and remote control capability. Saw at least one rebranded version online that seems to use the old controller, which makes me wonder if the controllers are interchangeable and 18td's could be upgraded to the tdx controller...

I haven't been able to justify ordering one yet... Though I should probably just get one and sell off one of my 18TDs...

Edit: OK I just bit the bullet and ordered one here: http://www.ebay.com/itm/401388564764 for $283
Also ordered the remote from here: http://www.linkdelight.com/37090200...or-RX-24TDX-RX-29TDX-Roll-Flex-LED-Light.html for $37

I have bought the falcon eyes one, flickering is not a problem at all. However the color rendering is not perfect, tested it with a the sekonic C700 meet CRI 95% but red is partially missing. is as good as any of those cheaper led panel meeting cri95%but not as good as aperture 672.

do you have a pic of the extended cri report? cheers!

I've bought a pair of NP power adaptors for my Travor 3060s.
They work OK so far.

The build quality isn't perfect, and one of them will need a DIY repair.
Any questions, let me know.

Wondering if anyone else has noticed this:

Looks to me like the stamping of other "brand" names for these products has begun (seems to happen in the LED category quite a lot lately). Being able to buy from a place like B&H might have its advantages tho - if anything turns up wrong with the light. And perhaps someone will come up with a mixture of different "kits" / sizes...

Oh awesome, good to see someone is making them available in the US. Bit of a markup (>2x) but I bet a lot of people who walk into BH will be happy to see these as a Westcott flex alternative at half the price...

Btw I now have my RX-29TDX and just received my remote control for it, will test it out and see if there is a way to get it to work with my 18td's as well...

I just tested the 29tdx ballast on the 18td and it works. The wireless remote seems pretty handy though it only adjusts dim and color temp and won't turn the light on and off. Sadly it uses different channels than the old ballasts. I wonder if there's a way to upgrade all my old ballasts.

I've been testing the NP battery adaptor for the Travor flex panels.
Using a 3060A panel at full tungsten with 4x DSTE NP970's I got 3 hours and 15mins.

After this time, one of the green LEDs on the battery pack began to flash and the LED panel itself began slowly flashing too.
I checked the batteries charges at this point. The one that was indicated as being low was at 10% while the others were 30,50 and 50%

I think that's a great result. The light maintained it's brightness right until the end.
Photos are attached.
