New firmware 1.21 for HMC150 available for download

Since Ms. Crittenden has, presumably, returned from Italy and, I believe, now heading up the AVCCAM product line -- I'm very grateful if she could clarify what is meant by "This update is to improve efficiency of camera recoder."

My thanks.

could anyone link me up to P2 Status Logger that the readme pdf says is required to update. I can't seem to find it on the Panasonic site. I'm upgrading from 1.16 so that I can use class 10 cards and enjoy this (possible?!) noise reduction!

Hi
You do not need the P2 Status logger to see if you have updated correctly. You can just check the firmware version in the menu of the camera - it is also explained in the update manual that follows the firmware.
I have just upgraded today (HMC 151E) from 1.20 to 1.21. Could not see any huge difference in noise though. But thre might be some according to other users.

It said in the readme I should use status logger to actually apply the update? I take it that's not right then?

You don´t have to...

...it also says that if you can not connect to internet you can verify firmware update using the camera it self:
Goto: MENU > OTHER FUNCTIONS > SYSTEM INFO to see if you have the latest firmware. After updating you will be able to confirm your update here as well.

:)

ok great. because it was step 1 in the readme I assumed it wasnt to check it had worked, I now see thats to check firmware before updating

excellent, I'll update my 2 151's tonight!

Great. Yes - you should be able to do that without any trouble - I updated my 151E with no issues at all. And afterwards it showed 1.21 in the SYSTEM INFO as explained in #66

Cheers

So.... what does this update do, anyway? We still don't have a clue, right? This update must be one of the most unproffesional I've ever seen... And the fact that it is the all mighty Panasonic that has released something that dosen't explain what it does makes the thing 100 times worse!

I didnt bother doing a noise/grain test as thats definitely not going to be part of the update or they'd be singing about it

well i know there is some a panasonic looking after me, i have no end of white balance issues with my 152, it drove me crazy it was like owning a Alfa Romeo, a real love hate relationship.

the firmware up date has resolved all my issues, shot a wedding yesterday left it mostly on auto for the nuts and bolts stuff no WB issues at all, dunno weather it will fix others who have this the same problem but i am quite lucky as i have a colleague who has the same camera and i sometimes borrow it, it also suffered the same issue firm ware up date all good.

Yes i hope that it stays this way, I am back in the love stage

Which firmware version were you having the issues with?

It's really pathetic that panasonic is requiring 32 bit windows. I've not used 32 bit ( partially because of editing panasonic's use of avchd codec!) for two years! I'll have to see if any friends are running. 32 bit. Hey Panasonic, get your DEV team a 64 bit machine!

I just validated that there is no apparent way to run the upgrade on Windows 7 64 Bit. I tried the standby of right clicking on the application icon, chose PROPERTIES> COMPATIBILITY > COMPATIBILITY MODE>and tried every version of Windows, and tried running in limited screen resolution, etc. I also made sure Run this program as an administrator and it still didn't work. Finally upgraded with my 32 bit Mac laptop using the other version of the upgrade. But this is bad. Panny should get a 64 bit version out. Only other way is to install a virtual machine I assume and run XP 32 bit in it.
