Hello,

I would like to show you our latest video, for the Red Bull organizator, shot enterly with the EOS 7D just with the kit lens (18-135) and one battery pack only. The camera does pretty well in terms of battery life. Picture quality is oustanding as you can see but controls and ergonomy suck so much!!

Well, it has been shot at 720/50p and edited in Sony Vegas prior converting it to AVI cineform. The workflow is straightforward and the transcoding is kinda fast. I edited in a 1280x720 50p progressive timeline but I exported MP4, 3Mbps, 25fps video for vimeo. I had to DISABLE RESAMPLING on every clip in order to avoid ghosting everywhere with the 50p to 25p conversion. However, I'm not completely satisfied with the slow motions.

Look at 2:28. The clip is slowed down to 25% but does it look enough fluid to you? I'm not sure I'm taking full advantage of the 50p recording when going down to 25p for vimeo. We do have to edit in a 720/50p timeline, but I'm not sure when I export to 1280x720 25p, the Vegas is taking the source 50p footage. 50% slowmo's are not that bad.

Anyway, hope you like it and feel free to leave any comment on the vimeo site!

Best regards,

It's not going to look fluid if you are creating frames that don't exist. If you're shooting at 50p and editing in 25p, the best you can with keeping the footage "fluid" is a 50% slowdown.

slowmo

Yeah, but I just thought it must be more fluid. Maybe I'm asking too much. I'm using Vegas and If I activate resample on the slomo clip all I get is ghosting effect, if I desactivate it I get jerky motion. What can I do?

Nice clip. For post-slow motion, use Twixtor for After Effects. It's still not as good as shooting it for real, but for post, it's the best slo-mo plug-in by a mile.
